Swiss Army 70 Dissapointment
on: July 08, 2017, 04:46:06 PM
Ever since I sold my Wenger Swiss Army 70 a number of years ago I've had regrets.
So recently I've been looking around for another one.

Imagine my surprise when I saw one advertised on a French website!  In Stock & only 29 Euro!
So without fail I ordered & paid for one with PayPal on the 8th June.

I might have known, no sign of the knife & no reply to any of the 4 messages I've sent

http://www.couteau-suisse.biz/30-swiss-army

I don't know if any members have dealt with this company before but if I don't hear anything soon I'm going to have to set PayPal onto them.  :twak:

It's also unfortunate in that if I had received it okay & in good time I could have let all forum members know where they were available from.

UK friends, I will be glad to act as middle man for any of you... Shipping is $13.50 US -> UK for 8oz or less.

SI's pop up all the time.  I just scored an '88 NIB for $40... not $29 but the 80's tools are a little thicker and perhaps a bit more collectible.

Anyway... I've got a growing pile of "Swiss Army 70" "SI" and "Soldiers" and I'm always switching them out... If  there's something you want me to get for you and you change your mind, I'll just keep it.

There's one I got my eye on right now I could possibly come away with for pretty cheap, looks like the awl is pretty worn down but the rest of the tools look good.

Have you seen many new in box ones?

Edit - just checked eBay and there are a few up there! Going to have to save up to be able to afford one though!

Go straight to PayPal; amazing how quickly you will get a reply or a refund!

I've logged the matter with PayPal's "Resolution Centre", got this reply; "The deadline to either mark this case as resolved or escalate it for our attention is 28 July 2017".
We'll see what happens now!

All I'm looking for is an ordinary Wenger Swiss Army 70 (with shield & bail).

I'm not even looking for a dated one.
Just an un-numbered Wenger Swiss Army 70

I hear ya, the only ones I see like that are going for around $70. I bought 2 of them for 80 then sold off one for 40 and kept the other one...   that deal might pop up again.

I personally prefer the dated ones... and fyi, they usually weigh just a touch more.

but I'm pretty sure any one with the bail would be the S 70. seems all of the boxes say soldiers knives regardless.  Might be different in the UK.

Update, I was give a refund by PayPal 2 days ago with a message from the seller "I could not get the knife" (It's still shown as "In stock" on his website)!
http://www.couteau-suisse.biz/30-swiss-army

On an impulse I ordered one from an Italian site once the refund arrived.

A Wenger Swiss Army 70 shown as "available".
https://www.decariashop.it/en/wenger-multiusi/19957-wenger-swiss-army-70-1070001000-7611640001963.html

I just received this message from the Italian site "Good evening we asked for a transfer because we finished the product and it will not come any more"  :ahhh

For some reason there are many European sellers advertising the knife, taking payment & after a while sending a message to say it's unavailable.

Had the exact same stuff happening with a 108mm Solo.
Only they never told me it was out of stock and kept coming up with excuses.

Me too.  I've bought MTs from Rex several times and been happy with the result every time  :tu:
