Dream mod?
on: July 10, 2017, 05:25:19 AM
Pikachu brought with him from the UK, a terrible virus... I believe it's called Mod Mono  :ahhh

So, I've been looking at the wealth of information in the Mod Squad forum and dreaming of my perfect mod..

Don't worry, Pikachu and El Yeoman are not in danger...  (but maybe the other two are!  :o)

Mine would be a right handed OHO main blade, saw and sharper needle nose pliers on the Swisstool and the same plus larger scissors on the Spirit X.  Loved the Silver Ghost on here some where, one awesome mod.

This is my dream mod... now it just needs some torx screws and red anodized liners...

Another dream mod I'm thinking is to make another one with metal file and wood saw added... still debating on this though... Could also go with Ti Master Craftsman (inline awl instead of small blade, file on hook, brass liners, torx screws, heat anodized Ti)

But in the meantime, got me Master Ranger too...

Must admit that is VERY nice :tu:

I think I want basically a 93mm Explorer w/ awl instead of sm blade

The only other variation I've arrived at is very similar and pretty sexy, I just think I would miss the awl....

1 electricians blade/cap lifter screwdriver (93mm sturdy)
2 Scissors
3 Magnifier/Phillips
4 combo tool/large blade

I recently thought of this Wenger mod (I thought it existed but found out it ain't so):

-Blade and small drop point blade
-Openers
-Corkscrew
-Awl
-Woodsaw
-Fish scaler

The perfect SAK for wild camping!

I'm currently trying to decide what to build for my dream 91. I actually have the ingredients already too.

Serrated main blade, paired with either the small pen blade or pruner blade. Still debating which blade to choose.
Corkscrew on back spring

Scissors and hook with file

Cybertool layer

Undecided on file and saw or what is on the backspring

Opener layer with awl

Loads.  I've built many of them, but there's more in my head that need to escape...
  • Non-locking 111mm with small blade opposite the cap lifter, scissors + inline phillips, with the phillips driver on the back.  A bit like a Master RT
  • Black scaled 93mm Electrician with phillips, pliers + scissors
  • 84mm Office (not officer's) knife: Large spear blade, small wharncliffe blade, scissors, no back tools, black scales
  • Trad folder companion: Scissors, pliers and cybertool layer.  Phillips on the back of the scissors, plus scales
  • Titanium scaled Electrician
  • Black and red alox Electrician
:ahhh

91mm

Vic Explorer with:
- light instead of magnifying glass
- nail file and cleaner instead of small blade
- (plus scales)

111mm

Vic One Handed Trekker non-serrated with:
- scissors and inline philips instead of saw.
- corkscrew instead of back philips

It's a problem because they don't make a layer that can work here; I think. I think perhaps a two layer could be used and the replacement layer put in the middle; but the locking cap lifter/bottle opener would probably no longer lock.

I think that's about it! :)

I would love to see the Skipper or other 111mm models with a tool exchanger similar to that in the LM Surge that would allow you to use long screwdriver bits as well as saw and file blades. Oh, and it should have a locking, OHO blade too.

I have a factory made one  :D it's called a Voyager Lite  ;)

Light instead on mag glass, nail file on the hook, plus scales, and even throws an alarm clock in the equation too  :P

It's soooooo close... I'm after the full nail cleaner - nail file tool, though... I find having a non sharp tool of that size and shape comes in quite useful!

I've seen the related traveler lite; but it's high priced for what it is and still needs the tool... I have a Huntsman Lite that fulfills the duty for a light; bit then the saw isn't needed (I have 111mm saks for that; much prefer that size saw); and still needs the nail tool...

We're mad here; this text would be crazy in any sort of polite company... lol

I would love to upgrade the main blade on my Electrician. I've been looking for a while for someone who would make me a clip point blade in CPM-154 or similar steel that I could install. (If anyone has any leads, let me know.)

That is simple, if a man is allowed to have two dreams

One is Huntsman, modded as follows:
-Nylon scales, no T&T
-reshape the small blade to a warncliff for whittling
-chisel behind the saw

The other is a less standard toolset:
-Plus scales
-Large blade, combo tool, corkscrew w/ glasses screwdriver
-Scissors, Compact hook
-Large serrated blade in a sheepsfoot shape, pruner blade, awl

Sounds like one I also wish they'd update, essentially a OH Outrider.  And with camo scales!
