Source for Victorinox 130mm scales?
on: July 11, 2017, 10:32:06 PM
So, I did a dumb thing, but I got reasonable results.

I pried the scales off of my Rangergrip 61. I drilled a hold through the shield side scale to have access to the 1/4 bit driver, which is great. The fit is pretty snug so the bits don't fall out.
I also drilled a very small hole into the scale under the corkscrew and put a piece of foam under the scale to accommodate a pin. The foam helps keep the pin in place. I put an eyeglass screwdriver in the corkscrew.. and on the other side, I pulled the scale off and cut a groove on the bottle opener side that accommodates a plus ink pen. All of this sounds and is great. The problem is that in prying the scales off, they are now a bit loose. I'd love to get my hands on a new set of scales to make my mods to so that I can potentially have a much tighter fit.

If 130mm scales are completely unavailable, I will probably put a dot of superglue around the midpoint of the backside scale to give a little resistance to the toothpick and call it done.

Anybody tried making a Rangergrip PLUS? :)
