Me too , lovely knives mate  :salute: the 110 is a classic  :tu: what is the multi bladed knife with stag scales .

That's a Beretta. Made in Italy, probably by Maserin. Includes a shot-shell extractor (12 & 20 gauge), common on Italian hunting knives, though I'm not sure why. Everyone else seems to make do without them.

Very nice  :salute:

I'm surprised this post isn't a wash with 110's
I don't mind doing the washing (sometimes). :)
I have two, both '74-'80 dates. Top is a beater with lots of blade play when not locked and some blade reprofiling.  Bottom is in really good nick, came with very little use and little sharpening.

I think I like the shape of the Böker better. Also, Case knives are hard to come by overhere. At least for a decent price.

Although I am not really a fan of the Buck 110 or it's many clones I have managed to accumulate quite a few of them.My basic complaint is that they are very handle heavy(to me anyway)which can be very tiring to the wrist when working with one for prolonged periods of time. I did find a nice replacement in the Buck Titan(model 186)which is considerably lighter but I opted to remove the pocket clip and the take down tool(affixed to the rear of the knife) to make it easier to handle. The later model Titans could not be disassembled.
Some of the better clones are the Jet-Aer G-96 models in varying sizes. They seem to be a bit lighter and the squared edges can be easily rounded for a more comfortable grip.
The Case Shark's Tooth;Mako;and Change-A-Blade all suffer the problem of handle heaviness although the Shark's Tooth is a bit more comfortable with it's rounded edges.
KA-BAR's model 1189 likewise is handle heavy with sharp edges. The Kershaw Folding Field features nice finger grooves and even a half guard but is also handle heavy.Browning and Smith & Wesson had offered variants with little change from the rest.
For some reason the Puma lockbacks don't seem as handle heavy although their prices in the USA were very high.Three or four times as much as a Buck 110 back in the 1970's and 80's.Gerber offered their Folding Sportsman in several different sizes and they were nice and light but had sharp edges and didn't seem to be as heavy duty as the others.
Another reason I don't like carrying one is they are uncomfortable in your pocket and a belt carry is not an option for me due to some spinal issues.Just the weight of a 110 on my hip can cause problems.
I don't really need a large folder anymore as my son does the hunting and my knife needs are basically cutting patterns for signs of trimming rogue hairs from my lettering brushes. Most of the time I carry a medium size congress pattern(an old Henckels is my favorite)or a small custom from a couple of different makers.

When I was actively employed(many years ago)one of the chores I found myself doing was cutting up large sections of heavy card board either to package an item up for shipment or cut the card board down to scrappable size. Cutting through a couple layers of heavy duty card board interspersed with large copper staples(a very quick way to dull a knife edge)can be very difficult and a heavy handled knife such as the Buck 110 will quickly put cramps in your hands.
I remember one time I had just purchased a new Benchmark Rolox folder that had a unique sliding blade mechanism using a release on the underside of the blade. While cutting through a particularly tough piece of board my small finger tripped the lock mechanism causing the blade to release and slide smartly to the rear(as it was supposed to)and grabbing the flap of flesh between my thumb and index finger rather nicely.Needless to say it was the LAST time I used that knife to cut anything heavy! For those unfamiliar with the Rolox here is how it works. It will take two posts.

Last two pics show it being closed and the position of the lock in relation to your small finger.
Essentially it operates by grasping the knife at the rear with your thumb and index finger and pressing down on the raised portion of the blade which cams the point of the blade upward allowing it to slide forward until it drops down and locks into the open position. To close the blade press the lock release on the bottom of the knife which levers the blade upward and using the raised portion of the blade slide it to the rear and into the locked closed position.
The mechanism was designed by Walter,"Blackie" Collins (RIP) who was one of the most prolific and innovative knife designers of all time. This was NOT a good example of his designs.

Here is a picture of a Buck model 186 Titan(titanium frame;I believe the first production folder to utilize titanium)compared to a standard Buck model 110.The weight is about half that of a 110.This was a 1st model which featured a small tool attached to the knife allowing it to be dis-assembled for cleaning. The kit also had extra shorter screws in it(along with a plastic blade sheath to prevent being cut while removing the blade!)to facilitate removal of the belt/pocket clip. I removed both(the tool and the clip)when I carried it because both hindered proper gripping of the handle.
There was also a later model that did not feature the take down ability. Neither model sold particularly well as I recall;probably because of the price. A standard 110 at the time was about $26 US whereas the Titan was a whopping $60! Most people who bought 110's treated them rather roughly and replaced them often so price was a big factor.

Great locking hunters guys  :like: I have looked at Buck 110s over the years and have never been able to pull the trigger on one  Always got distracted by something else or talk myself out of it   I have a few clones and a couple lockbacks but not a real Buck ::) Great discussion and always love to read stuff that Ray puts as well :salute: :like:

That Rolox is very interesting Ray  :tu: and the Ti buck is cool,I nearly got one a few years ago as had the bucklite as well as a 110 and 112 so thought that would add some bling  :D but it was a bit expensive and couldn't warrant the purchase at that time, very cool knife though

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
