11th Anniversary Giveaway- In Memoriam

This one may be a little less fun than some of the other giveaways, but it should be no less important.

Three years ago on this day this site was rocked with a serious tragedy- our good friend and major behind the scenes contributor to Multitool.org, the man who supported this site like it was his own, and even designed our logo, passed away after a relatively short and very aggressive bout with mesothelioma.

At the time, I swore he would live on forever as long as there was a Multitool.org, and I don't intend to.

Travis isn't the only member we have lost- we have far too many names in our In Memoriam group already, and I am in no hurry to add any more.  But, Travis wanted us to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing, and I am all for respecting his wishes.

To honor the MTO members who are no longer with us to help celebrate, I would like to do a very special giveaway.  Travis and I met as members of the Secret Order of Swiss Army Knives, he created and ran the Knife Of The Year program and he carried a SwissTool every day.  It is only fitting that we give away Swiss Army Knives to remember him.

What I have are a pair of 2006 stamped ALOX knives- the year Travis, Tim, Esteban, Dave and I started Multitool.org, One is a Wenger Soldat (aka SI, Standard Issue) and the other is a Victorinox Soldier.



All you need to do to be eligible to win these knives is share this special black banded version of the MTO logo that we put up for a week whenever a member passes.  Just copy and paste this image (copy the code below the image) and I will pick someone at random to win both knives on Monday, July 24th.

This is a great set and a great reminder of how far Multitool.org has come in the past 11 years, and I can't think of a better way to remember Travis, John, Howard, Dave, Jeff and Joe and what they meant to this site.

Thanks for such agreat memoriam.
I have not been here long enough to have been blessed knowing any of those mentioned.  I have though been through a great loos with-in the last year.  My best friend lost his wife to a very agressive battle with cervical cancer.  If by chance I do receive the blessing of carrying on this legacy I intend that these be split between their two teen age boys.

Please exclude me from the draw, as there are many members who could give these knives a better life than me, but I am proud to be part of this forum that our fallen members helped to create.

In many cases they laid the foundations upon which the rest of us tread. They were the ones who set the tone with their humour, creativity, passion and dedication. I did not have the good fortune to deal with all of them, but we honour those people every day, along with those who just faded away from the forum never to be heard from again, by continuing to feed the forum with our own humour, creativity, passion and dedication.

What can I say to pay honor to the passed away members from this place?
I only got here last year, but I feel strongly connected to this place and it's people. So I can only imagine what it's like when you lose someone so dear to you in person, and to this forum as a whole.
I can say nothing more then "there are no proper words".

But as Grant has proven so nicely: someone who is not forgotten, is not completely gone...
