So I managed to break the tip off of the awl on my Pioneer Harvester.

I wasn't even abusing it. Some friends were over on a hot day and we had a bunch of coconuts that we were opening up and drinking. I was using my Harvester's awl to punch straw holes in the coconuts. Just poking it in and twisting it around to drill out a hole. I am not sure exactly when the tip chipped off, because I didn't notice it until after. I hope no one drank that little piece of metal with their coconut juice! It was surprising that this was all it took to damage this thing.

It was hard to photograph, but here's the best shots I could get.

And next to an unbroken awl to help see the difference.

Not really panicking, just a little annoyed by it. I have plenty of other alox SAKs with awls to use.

And what do you mean I'll "get back functional in no time?"

That does seem rather surprising. Maybe a structural defect with the steel
I would try to sharpen it out.

Sorry, that was meant to read get IT back functional, as in it should be easy to sharpen back up. Apologies for the confusion

Coconuts aren't that soft though, even the green ones.

I can imagine slamming the tip hard into a hard wooden surface and then bending back and forth would accomplish that but drilling with it

I always hear about Victorinox's lifetime warranty. You think I could get them to repair or replace this?

Sure.   :tu:   Five minutes with a file would fix it too. Only cost a few mm in length.

Are you trying to get me to say something inappropriate?
