What is your fav 58mm SAK?

Since I am rather new to SAKs just wondering if anyone had a preference on the 58mm models

plus how many different models are there and there functions (if there are alot then don't worry about a list) ?

Currently I am looking @ the Classic with alox and the MiniChamp

Just wanting the input of some of you experts out there I can't decide if I want minimal or maximal ::) those 2 knives  seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum and  I really don't know if I want minimum or maximum

Thanks for the help in advance :tu: :D

I carry a Signature or Signature Lite model most often. As far as selection goes, there are probably more models made in 58mm size than you would care to list. Check out SAKWicki.com for a decent although incomplete list of all older and newer 58mm models. ;)

I have Signature II that  my wife bought me and like it a lot.

I have been thinking of getting an alox Classic lately though. Something thin with just scissors and nail file to compliment other SAKs that don't have those tools.

Manager,you want a Manager :pok:

To me,it's the right balance between minimal and maximal...it has everything I need and nothing superflous.

Bijou SD.  I have to admit it is the only one I have. :-[  As it is basically a Classic SD without a key-ring then the Classic SD gets my vote.  It works well as a compliment to a bigger SAK without trying to replace one.

The 58mm line isn't a favourite, I have a problem with blades that small and have been known to fumble them resulting in blood loss!  I've probably played with most of the options and for me the Rambler comes out tops.  I carried one as a companion to my Scientist until I fitted the phillips driver/opener into a 74mm frame.  These days all my 58s are shelf queens.

I have quite a few 58mm SAKs. My favorite is the Minichamp. It is slightly bigger than the Classic and has a ton of cool implements! The orange peeler is my personal favorite!

Even though it isn't a 58mm. My favorite is the Wenger Clipper then an Esquire with the Evo scales.   :o
As far as Vic my favorite is the Rambler (I love that little phillips / opener).  ;)
I would like to get an ALOX Classic but an ALOX Rambler would be awesome. 8)

Ramler is by far my favourite 58mm. If you don't carry a pen, Manager is for you (although you will then have to decide whether it's the toothpick or the tweezers that you want to keep).

Another vote for the Rambler!  My Stayglow Rambler never leaves my keychain (unless I'm using it of course).

I also like the 6 blade variant of the Minichamp--it's basically the Rambler with the wharncliffe blade and "orange peeler" added.

The Rambler is my favorite in this size, and I too would really like to see an ALOX Rambler.  :gimme:

Anyone know of a source for wood scales in 58mm?

Thanks,

Evan

I have bought some cheap aisian knock off small SAK's with wood scales and transferred them over to several of my REAL VSAK's. It works pretty good if you do a job in removing the previous glue and make it fit the new knife just right.

Its an idea. :tu: :D

Classic better yet alox classic, well cuz it's the only one out of the 58mm I have atm but things might change. I always have the tweezers and the toothpick (toothpick is never used) on my edc sak unless it's a soldier, si, farmer etc...

p.s. welcome juntunee I'm new here as well but been reading the forum for a while, lot's of info here. gl.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I had been reading this forum for quite awhile, and forgot that I had never posted before.

Yeah, a piece of wood and a file would work, I was just hoping that someone had 58mm wood scales available. It would save some work. :)

Now here is a question for the modders among you. If you had an Alox Classic SD and a Rambler, would it be possible to combine the two to create an Alox Rambler? I think you would want to copy the layout of the Rambler; scissors and nail file with screwdriver on one side, small blade and cap lifter with phillips screwdriver on the other side, and the blade would also need to move to the end of the knife without the key ring (that is my major complaint of the classic - I find that having the blade and key ring on the same end of the knife is very inconvenient). Anyway, it would take someone with more skills that I to do this, if it is even possible. But it would be cool!

Again thanks for the welcomes, I enjoy this place.

I just got a couple of Classics from Tim. Supposedly, they're "used". The best thing about them is I finally got my mother to EDC a multi.  :D

Yes on both counts. Here is a link to our SAKWicki article for it, http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Vagabond Its not as rare as most folks make it out to be though so don't let anyone mislead you to think it is some kind of rare knife like the "Bladeless" 58mm.
