Swisstool Pivot play
on: October 20, 2008, 09:45:52 PM
I know this has been discussed before.. GROA AA A N  :D  I just received a BNIB Swisstool with the most recent plier head, and surprise, surprise, it shows a small amount of play in the plier pivot. Guess I shouldn't be worried though since I have a PST and Sideclip with way more play than this. Oddly enough the earlier version ST I have shows no play at all. This so nearly could be my perfect MT except for the fact that others tempt me too  :D

Is there any consensus on whether older Swisstools have less play then the newer ones?

I have a Spirit and a new-style Swisstool that have negligible play.

How much play are we talking about here?

Not much play, it's just noticeable when the tool is open and you move the handles up and down. It's not the sort of thing you would want to get any worse though. If it did that's what warranties are for.

It is a little annoying that Vic can't get this seemily simple thing right.  :-\

Still, it is a great tool and the one I EDC.  :)

I wonder if it's from overpolishing the pivot pin and removing too much material.
