Specific Multitool recommendation
on: September 04, 2017, 02:28:28 AM
Hi,
Anyone have a recommendation for a multitool that can use different bits (I specifically need a small torx as well as a mini phillips) and preferably one that comes with added features in the tool or the same pouch... I've been fancying these two but have no clue if they work well and would like to know if anyone has had any experience with them before I spend that kind of money...

So far I am thinking about these:

1) https://urbanedcsupply.com/collections/keychains-multitools/products/mininch-tool-pen

2) https://urbanedcsupply.com/collections/keychains-multitools/products/scout-leather-co-hex-bit-driver

if you have any other recommendations I'm all ears!

Doc Allen Versadriver. http://docallensversatool.com/

Fraction the cost, and very hard to damage. I've been using one 12 or 13 years and put it to some pretty solid use including running a length of rebar through the loop as a breaker bar. Sockets, 1/4" bits, and with the help of various adapters, 4mm bits and exacto blades. And those are some of the less weird things I've rigged it for. Hyper versatile, if I had to choose to lose my Leatherman or my Doc Allen I'd be hard pressed to choose.

In the standard pouch, I used to carry 2 racks of bits, 1/2 and 3/8" sockets, a socket extender to replace the bit driver extender (more stable), and a pin vise with precision screwdriver bits and a small drill bit to use as a gimlet. I've since moved onto a larger pouch, but the factory pouch is a little smaller than most wallets. Might not be as flashy as the Urban EDC, but I would trust it with my life.

There is always the Bit Bar, if you have the coin.

But you could get the bit-kit from Victorinox and if you buy it with a Spirit you will have one of the most capable Multitools and a sheath for it :D
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Cybertool 29.
^^^^^
This

Although a Cybertool 29 costs more here then a Cybertool 34, which has more functions...

If budget isn't an issue, grab a Cybertool 41.
It's my ultimate SAK...

So depending on the situation over there I'd go with one of these.

Still need a 29 to complete the set though...
And a CTLite

I carry the Topeak Ratchet Rocket, it's basically the same as the Victorinox ratchet but a bit slimmer. I does require that you carry a bit-kit but so do a lot of the others that has been posted.

How does the first one hold up to putting any pressure on it? I would have thought it would it would just give and you'd push the last of the bits out of the back.

The True Utility Mini Driver might be of interest too.

Got one of these, but my bits are double: the phillips in one piece and the straight in another. Work pretty well.

This one is nice. is there a piece to hold the bits? I don't necessarily need it on my keychain but do want to keep it in my bag or pocket..

They are kept inside the driver.

Just saw this on Facebook... Looks pretty neat! Reminds me of a Kubaton!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/34951038/the-bitzblade-20-the-last-multi-tool-youll-ever-ne?ref=copbvg

A bit weary about ordering something off Kickstarter though... Anyone have experience ordering anything from there and actually receiving it?
