New LTD edition
on: August 04, 2017, 04:36:57 PM
As some may already know, Vic has come out w/a new watch & knife set for $850: INOX Titanium Sky High, limited to 2000 pieces. What is of interest is the SAK that accompanies the watch. Unlike the Jubilee pocket watch & the Your Companion for Life on the Road pocket watch, this wrist watch is not numbered, as far as I know. I've seen the back of the watch & I don't see any nnnn/2017 on it. What is of interest is the white-scale SAK that comes w/it. I don't know what model or whether it is numbered.

Comes with metal and paracord bracelets?...

How easy are these to swap?

Should be easy with the help of the SAK that comes with it... Vic has been selling I.N.O.X. paracord straps with similar SAK included (of course the scale is just the standard one)

I'm thinking that it might be easy to have the watch bracelet pins slip out of the paracord and have the bracelet unwravel itself...

It's usually a Spartan or Climber. Like in the Gold or Zodiac editions. I think jaya_man guessed it right.

It is Handyman. It has the same emblem as Astronaut Craftsman but no etching on the blade unfortunately .

That's the Craftsman....they must be hiding these guys out!   I want this set badly, but not so much that I'll be sleeping in my tent when the wife finds out

Sky High, I get it. $850 on the US site >> https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Watches/I-N-O-X-Titanium-Sky-High/collection/tp-collection/timepieces_collection_WAT-C2626

That white Handyman is really cool, but not for that price. I don't wear a wrist watch anyway.

Here's another pricey one, but it sure is cool, even has a flashlight bumper to cover up the plasticky carbon case.

https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Watches/Mens-Watches/I-N-O-X-Carbon/p/241800.2

The knife is a camo Spartan, they might have done better, like a camo Ranger or something, but still a nice set.  :tu:

if you absolutely have to have orange tweezers and you've got $995 that you're hoping to get rid of by the end of the day - I'd say it's a no-brainer...!

A matching orange paracord lanyard would have been nice too.

I prefer the titanium case, it looks like titanium, the carbon looks like plastic.

On second thoughts it looks like the Spartan might have that "black ice" finish... not that that would mean it's a bargain. But I could be mistaken.
Since I've never spent more than 100 euros on a watch it's safe to say I'm not about to find out anytime soon!

With the rubber strap and no bumper it looks like a $50 watch to me, and knowing it has a $15 Ronda movement doesn't help justify the price either.

(I will have to disqualify my opinions though, because I literally know next to nothing about luxury watches, tbh)

It looks like a regular camo Spartan to me, abt. $25 on Amazon. Dunno how much the orange tweezies are, I've never seen them sold separately.

Vic's pricing for what you get seems fine to me, compared to other obvious brands like Tag Heuer or Certina or yet another brand where you buy a Ronda or ETA embedded in a big hunk of precision machined titanium.

They're not for me, but the pricing seems in line with the market given my limited knowledge of watches.

I agree, given my limited knowledge also. There are quite a few quartz watches in the $2k-5k range without in-house movements, and given the known reputation for quality of Vic, they do seem reasonable by comparison.  :tu:
