I got the Estwing sharpened sledge hammer

They call it the fireside friend.  :D  Its ridiculously heavy for carrying or backpacking but damn it splits wood well.  :D

This my 5th Estwing.  Probably the least practical, but it does double as a hitting and splitting tool!

I have seen those a few times, and they do look like great tools. Had I seen one when I still owned the boat, I might have got one - not much use to me now though  :-\

Glad to hear they work as well as I imagined  :tu: :salute:

 :D :D :D

I had a multifuel stove and a woodburning range with full oven. Most of my "log bothering" activities were to feed those two hungry beasts  :D

Dad has one of the older versions of that we keep by the woodstove for splitting kindling when needed....works VERY well and has been down there as long as I can remember....except when I was 10 or 11 or so and I "borrowed" it to use when we would ride our bikes to a little wood lot and cut down trees to build a fort/shelter..we didn't really care that it wasn't an axe but for us it worked pretty well even

Ah to be young again.  I borrowed my dad's estwing hatchet back then for fort making too.  He never cared as long as I put it back where I found it.   :)
