Gerber BullRush OR B.S? Initial Thought comparison
on: August 10, 2017, 04:36:21 AM
O.K. I have not been very involved with my Gerber babies since I joined the Swiss challenge, but I have been buying some used Gerbers.
One of two that stands out and really surprised me was the BullRush.
When I bought it, I assumed it was a crucial with G10 handles. Then....I felt the weight and knew differently.
I loved the sheath, because it is made like the Strata's sheath with nice loops and a button closure.
The weight is 7.96oz w/o sheath, while the crucial is 5.2oz. They have the same exact blade and similar flat head driver. But, the buck stops there! The frame feels strong with no flex and excellent lockup on all the tools. The strap cutter is ground well and cuts like crazy! The phillips bit has superb reach and strength in my few tests. The pliars have my favorite style cutters (anvil) and cut very well. The pliars meets at a reall fine points, but feel strong, with a nearly imperceptible amount of play. Some play is unavoidable, due to being spring loaded. Those are the only tools. Designed for emergency workers and law enforcement,  but good for a lot of people in my opinion. No pocket clip, but the G10 handles may work well in a pocket. The G10 looks and feels excellent, even on the used tool I bought.
A recommended tool, especially if you don't mind the extra weight over the crucial. It really puts the crucial to shame, except I think a removable pocket clip would make this tool outstanding.
Pics comparing it with other Gerbers attached and a close up in hand.
