Arthur Wright knives

Are Artur Wright knives any good?

This one caught my eye, but I have read a few horror stories of how
Sheffield made knives arent what they used to be.

I have a Joseph Rodgers current production BAK that has a big problem when it comes to the main blade. They'd ground the kick down, and as a result, the blade chipped every time it snapped shut.  I don't know if it's because of Egginton ownership or what. I really don't hear any complaints when it comes to A. Wright and Sons or Taylor's Eye Witness.

Are those real horn handles? 25 GBP is a whole heck of a lot less than it is here.

There's a big fan group of these over on bladehq.

I think they're a bit hit and miss.  I've got one that's OK - it's a carbon steel lambsfoot with rosewood handles and brass bolsters.  Quite a nice pocket knife, but the finish isn't great (the blade isn't very well ground) and I'd be reluctant to buy one without inspecting it first.

I have one that's very well made, but it was £70-ish with filework. Remember these are handmade for £25, and most of that will be materials etc, so very little time will have been spent on them. It will cut, but won't have been lovingly crafted for several hours to ensure perfection. If you want something that will open, close, and cut - this will work. If you are wanting somebody to have spent more time on it, you need to be spending more money
