Identification request for Swiss(?) pocket knife
on: August 13, 2017, 07:34:31 PM
This knife is offered for sale on he internet.
Has anyone any idea what brand it is? Is it Swiss, or maybe Chinese, or South-Zimbabwian?
It seems that the logo on the scale is also the logo on the tang.

The brand is Adler, former East Germany. They're quite good, not as good as SAKs though. E22 is a fair price.
if I remember correctly Adler used Sandvik steel from  Sweden.

Looks to be a Huntsman*. Older model with out the hook or sewing hole in the awl.

*Huntsman clone, apparently.

Adler at one time was making the ISC (Imperial Schrade) pocket knives. As mentioned decent knives.

Here's an ISC Camper copy. Pretty darn close.

Thanks for the info!!!!
I didn't know anything about Adler knives. According to some internet collectors websites the Adler trademark is now owned by a Czech company named Mikov, with production in Mikulášovice.
Nice knife, but I think I will pass and stick with SAK's and DAK's.

Mikov is another brand of SAK based pocket knives that offer a decent tool for the money. So I've heard.

Furthermore the Spanish company Aitor and German company Richartz sold knives in that format and should also be heaps better then those Chinese copys. Just not anywhere near the Swiss knives.

Unfortunately Richartz knives are now made in China. Have a couple of their old German-made Picnics, which were decent knives.

Also have an assortment of Aitors.

Some other multi-blades. All rare here in the US.

Mikov (Czech)

Mercury (Italy)

Fox (Italy) (some very nice knives)
