:b2t:

So Pablo, how many other SAKs were tortured like this?
Do you sell them for cheap or do you keep on to them as strange souvinirs?
Do you make any difference between received/bought tools when deciding which one has to go?
:twak:
This is the first bottle opener that I've bent, EVER.
I've never bent a can opener, awl, backside Philips, etc. I've never pryed with a blade.

The only corkscrew bending I've ever done was on a climber small I aquired that already had a bent corkscrew. I just bent it back to normal, aka I fixed it.  :salute:
I fixed a 5 turn corkscrew. Is that not a giant good mark for me?  :ahhh

Yes, there was that time, 2 years ago, when I sawed too vigorously and then it looked like this when I closed it:

No saws were harmed in the making of this photo
But that was fixed and I have been sawing with it for 2 years.  :salute:

Any SAK would be luck to stay with me.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I've broken my share of SAKs, mostly the tip of the blade, seems its not made to be used as screwdriver or prybar ::)
Another thing not to do is use a cellidor SAK as hammer... that is what alox is for.
But if you look at the original Classic Challenge you will see that these tools can take an awful lot of abuse. Jothra is Legend

But that is in my past, now I'm more gentle with my SAKs, only abuse off-brand stuff like Swiza, Böker, Gerber or Leatherman :D
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I can proudly say that I've never broken a SAK. Bending a tool a teeny bit, then unbending it, is not the same as breaking if the tool isn't impaired afterwards.  ;)

I've broken and twisted quite a few tips of large and small blades when cutting in to wood.    Broke a tip of an awl the same way, but it was twisted when I got it.  Guess that means you shouldn't dig into wood with your blades or twisted awl.      And tbh, I was using older, "user" type of SAKs when doing this.  I wouldn't submit my normal EDC's to such treatment. Never any issues with other tools, though I've run into MANY a bent combo tool and corkscrew and broken scales in buying used.

Unless the price is in pesos, $150 isn't too unreasonable if someone just had to have it...

The only thing I remember outright breaking on a SAK was the Phillips on my old SwissChamp, overtorqued one of the ears right off of it. I remember being a little sick about it. Started carrying an Explorer plus after that, for years, the Phillips on that never failed.  :salute:

Have I broken a SAK?  No, never.  But only because I learned my lesson when I snapped the bottle opener completely off of my beloved, Solingen made Hoffritz Partner.  It happened so long ago I don't remember how I did it.  Couldn't fix it either, since Hoffritz was long out of business before it happened.

Snapped the tip on a couple of can openers. smurfed up a few pairs of scissors cutting wire and other things. Snapped the tip of the blade on an Alox. Bent a woodsaw. Bent a file. Busted a mini driver.................

Hmm.  I don't think I've broken a tool.  I think I did bend the tip of a flat driver on a MT but honesty the tip should not have bent.  As far as SAKs......  Hm.......  I don't think so.   I have pushed them into grey areas but back off early enough to not have harmed them.  I told the story of my Managers Phillip that was pushed well into the grey area and came out a HERO.

Snapping blade tips is  :twak:.  Sorry guys  :salute:

Yeah, I am probably also on it. I've ruined, lost, gave away, traded, sold, damaged too many Vic's along the way. And most were older types, some were really unique items. But all of my life I've considered them as tools that could be abused. Shame on me!! But now I have seen The Light. No more fooling round with these beautiful pieces of industrial ingenuity.

That won't slow me down. They are tools. And just like the two greatest MTs invented(LM Surge and Vic Supertimer) they will be used as tools. I have zero shame nor should anyone else.
