There is so much tension between us that he avoids me.  I still like him, though, and support him on Patreon.

Skyline......tip up or tip down?

I swapped to tip up which leaves much more sticking out, played around a bit and the re-positioning to open when tip down seems almost as fast as tip up.

Flippers are cool tip down, its all about where you grab it at first.

Very true, I prefer blade down for mine, but this leek of mine has it at blade up, until I can get a torx bit small enough to switch it over

Can anyone explain why there is negativity towards the Speedsafe AO? Some youtubers and some on bladeforums seem to not like it, but I never hear a reason. I would never dream of deassisting my Blur as others do, I don't quite get it, if you don't like the feature why buy the knife? I can see legal reasons or restrictions being an issue but I love AO. That Dividend I posted a few posts up fires out like its on amphetamines, really sweet knife.

a. Durability: torsion bars form Speedsafe tend to break easily and after some use, when you've gone through quite a few cycles of opening   :(
b. Tolerances: AO usually covers/hides the bad tolerances in cheap or low quality folders, that need it to open and lock reliably, because if they were manual or relied on precision machining and fitting to work, they would not open half the time  :salute:
c. Safety: when deassisted or the torsion bar breaks, many or most times the knife can't be opened safely, doesn't have a detent (unsafe in the pocket), can't lock or a combination of bad action, locking and retention problems arises  :P
d. Comfort: the force that launches the blade open has to be fought back to fold the blade in the handle, posing a potential safety issue, making it hard or difficult to counteract the AO's spring to close the folder resulting in awkward operation
e. Alternate opening: AO can't be opened slowly, partially, or in a controlled manner which can be problematic at certain times, environments and circumstances as well as among certain types if people

I can think of other reasons (dubious legal classification, "flying knives"... ::)) but they are secondary or tertiary

it's like the AXIS lock on Benchmades, some people have them breaking all the time, others spend 10 years with 10 different Benchmades without an issue, and others are fine for years and then one day it breaks all of a sudden  ??? :ahhh

thats a great knife, I wouldn't worry about that purchase, the USA made Kershaws are top notch.

All mechanical items break after awhile either due to metal fatigue, corrosion, rust, improper heat treatment etc...everything breaks come to think about it, just on different time scales, thank Isaac Newton

When the universe reaches its end and goes cold and even atoms stop moving, somewhere Gerhards soul(if there is such a thing) will be kicking himself that he never got a knockout

As good as the USA made Kershaws are, there are some really decent Chinese made ones, and then there are some really awful ones ie "Freefall" Amazon had a deal last week for about $10, but I already returned it, vertical blade play, blade rattled when you shook knife when open, razor sharp spine gimping, clip too short and so tight it was unusable and held in place by 1 screw on the end. Probably the worst Kershaw I have seen, it was out to cut me  either by lock failure or saw tooth gimping, and I take blade safety very seriously so even for $10 I would avoid this pos.

I found a few Amplitude 3.25's at walmart on clearance for $5 each. I opened one for myself, giving one to my brother, might resell the other...one thing I find weird is the one I opened has 2 bronze pivot washers, looking into the other clam packs I see one has a nylon and a bronze, the third one has 2 nylons and slightly different printing/silkscreen on the package and the scales look thicker on the side view. I find these to be quite odd, why all three have different washers? Maybe produced in a different factory? It's strange I do wonder if the thicker one with nylon is maybe a fake, but not sure if Kershaws are faked.

It's a decent knife, has a Leekish quality to it and nice deployment

I wasn't too sure about this knife.  The handle grooves initially weren't something I considered.  After having this knife for a while and using it quite a bit I can tell you I like it a lot.  The comfort of this handle for my hand is awesome.  I really really like the blade on this knife.  Its one heck of a slicer.  The edge is wicked and keeps it pretty well.  I've used it for food prep many times as well as around the camp site.  Its bulky and a bit awkward to carry I anything other than a sheath or pack.  Over all a sweet blade.

PST and 91mm for size reference.
