Key carabiner (Dutch_Tooler's carabiner badge attempt)

Hi all,

A while ago I found these objects sold in the Internet as key rings or similar e.g. under the name 'xhorizon TM FX'. They include a hook with a spring-biased lock, so I think they qualify for the definition of a carabiner. Included is an open fabric loop which closes through two opposed complementary patches of hook-and-loop (aka Velcro TM).

The photos below show how I use one suspended from my belt to keep my car keys (not shown) from resting on the bottom of my trouser pocket, in order to avoid aesthetically unpleasing bunching of the keys and damage to said bottom. Also secures the keys in place and prevents loss e.g. while running, or perhaps sitting suspended in an inverted position, e.g. in a jammed rollercoaster car or the like

and simultaneously, under normal orientations, keeps the car keys out of sight so that nobody can become envious of my beautiful Pontiac Aztek (not).

These carabiners can equally effectively be employed to suspend any suitable objects from a backpack or belt pouch provided with appropriate straps such as those of the MOLLE system. Available in the usual range of colours to suit various circumstances or tastes.

That looks very much like Maxpedition's Keyper; I have one, but haven't yet tried it out, as I'm still happy with my Victorinox key dangler. Your model does look much more low-key (

) than the reflective Victorinox contemporary.

Request for improvement: in the web page for awards requests you can't attach pictures - would be a great addition to its functionality.
