Holy Crap! Swisstool Spirit is amazing!
on: October 24, 2008, 06:54:31 PM
Good god!  I've read all the raves, and all the reviews, and I've seen all of the pictures, but I have never seen a Swisstool OR Swisstool spirit in person....until today.  I got a esstentially brand new swisstool spirit with the ratchet for 45 bucks on ebay and it just showed up today.  WOW this thing is fantastic...I dont know what I was thinking buying ANYTHING else before this guy  ::) .  I still love my other multis, but this thing is essentially PERFECT (needs one hand opening blade...and I like the swisstool S better than the regular, but I'm buying a B/O Swisstool Spirit too!!). I might try and do a pocket clip for this guy, but I dont want to screw it up.  Ok I'm done ranting, I just cant believe how awesome this tool is!!!

-Dough :tu: :tu:<----two thumbs up!

It's amazing how many threads like this about the SwissTool and/or Spirit there are!  While not perfect (as you said) it seems that there is a certain something about Victorinox's tools that draws people in.

That alone should make everyone want to at least give one a shot- and make them feel comfortable, since it's very likely that someone will take it off your hands if you don't like it!

I made the mistake of giving the SwissTool a try. Before I knew it, I had a dozen of the darn things.

I'm wondering whether my hands will still be warm & living at the point where the swisstool is pried from them.

Here is what I thought about the Spirit http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=170&Itemid=35   :multi:

My thoughts 18 months later still the best MT I have ever owned. :D

I am thinking about getting rid of my Swiss Tool because it never gets used anymore. :(

ENJOY YOUR SPIRIT ;)

You like your Spirit MORE than the Swisstool?   The Swisstool is capable of bigger jobs around the house.

Not so pocket friendly though.

You will find a lot of people that prefer the Spirit to the Swisstool.

Definitely not pocket friendly AND if I'm at home I'll go grab a tool and leave my Vic for field missions. I doubt the ST can do more than the Spirit, though the ST is more robust.

Definately one of my top multitools...the Spirit packs a lot of punch for such a small package.

I've handled a friends Spirit a while ago and liked it, but I still love my original ST X more. I'm waiting for the new spirit to come out with scissors and a clip point blade, once it does I'm adding it to my line up.

I have held one of them at least,  :-[ but no, I don't own one.  Nothing against it but at the time I had to pick between the ST and a Supertool.  The Supertool just did a bit more for me.  This was a long time ago now and the Supertool has served me well.  Now I only carry SAKs and am poor.  ;)

I'd prefer to see a plain sheeps foot main blade (I hate serrations), a combined can/bottle opener to free up a tool space, more dedicated and thinner flatheads, and a smaller 2nd phillips driver (pozi would be better but that's not going to happen).

Lastly, and this pains me, I would like the option of buying a non locking model so I can EDC the bloody thing :(  To make it non locking only requires the sliding part be left out of the manufacturing process.

I should be getting my first real multitool soon, and it will be a spirit as well, obviously previous tools I've owned will be utterly useless in comparison... and yes, it will probably ruin every other future tool for me too... oh well, maybe on the upside, it will save me some money :P

I think I have a generic multitool I used in London when I was working as an IT manager, and IF it still exists, it's falling apart... I don't remember if I kept it and it's in a box somewhere, or I had the common sense to throw it in the rubbish where it belonged... I'm looking forward to owning a tool that won't let me down when I need it!
