Men, who at one time, knew exactly the perfect tool for them. Now, we want to think we know, but look at the cool thing that MT does; and wait, look at the neat thing that MT does.
I have a feeling we will both go back to our long time edc combos one day, but it'll be fun to carry a different tool once in a while. :)

You're almost to the end. I've enjoyed riding along with you the entire way.
Do you plan to summarize your thoughts and impressions?
I'm sure we'd all appreciate hearing any conclusions you have drawn.

Phillips screws are evil. I don’t know why their use persists.

More than the screws themselves,  the companies that produce crappy screwdrivers and polished bits. Good thing LM bits bite like nobody's business! I have used the same LM bit for a year with my wave and then my Surge. Still bites good!

They really do make a good driver bit set, don’t they?
A short while ago I needed a 7/16” hex (Allen wrench) and a much smaller SAE hex to adjust the draw weight and length on a compound bow. This was at work, but being a non-technician, all my tools were at home. I had my BO Wave with 42-bit set in my vehicle though. The drivers made short work of the bow adjustments.
Like I said, a good driver set.

Nice. A good save there by LM bits! Used to, I thought the "2-D" bits would by kind if crumby, but have really warmed up to them. I still need to get the 42pc set. I am getting more and more pieces of furniture to work on that take allen and torx bits these days! I miss the early days at my job when a 1/4 slot driver and #2 phillips was all I needed. :ahhh

The challenge was a lot of fun. I had never put the surge to the test before, and am thankful and honored you asked me to join. The Surge really exceeded my expectations and will become part of my rotation.
I have not forgotten about the SwissTool writeup though. It just got put on hold while I merged with the Surge. :D
I am taking the SwissTool out tomorrow to get a feel for it again and do some more comparison notes.
I am preparing my mind for an apples and oranges switch back to the Vic toolset for the weekend. Gonna be strange! I imagine there will be things I missedon the Vic and things I wished the Vic had. But, MTs are all about compromises in the end..IMHO.

The Suge is quite a tool  :tu: and I WILL add one, a bit extender and bit set to my personal arsonal when finances permit.  The sponsor of this challenge has definately given me an eye opening experiance  :o that I may not have had if left to my own devices.  I am looking forward to getting back to my Swisstool, as I have had a 20 year relationship with it.  I won't say any more for now on this subject.  You'll have to wait for more as I don't want to get into my thaughts yet.
Now on the subject of screw heads,  :ahhh I find the phillips to be better in my world than a slot/ flat head.  Most of my work is with machine screws and the threads are so fine that if the flat head dose not stay perfectly in line with the slot,  well there goes the slot.  Phillips on the other hand if you use the correct size for the screw and a quality tip then they can even be removed quickly even from a slight angle.  The angle issue comes up a lot in my line of work because things are designed to be assembled on a line, NOT serviced in the field.    Don't get me started!    That being laid out there, I also have been very impressed by LM's 2D bits and extender.  :salute: Leatherman's 2D phillips dose work in the angle situation, unfortunately just not as well as a true 3D phillips.    I almost got into the next episode again.  So see ya later and a blessed night/ day to all.
