For some strange brain reason, if I have a wood saw I also want to have a clip point blade on my knife.
So I have a Vic Climber and a Wenger Backpacker II.

A knife could certainly do the job, but scissors do it better. I like better  :D

Scissors are for precision cuts. You could use a knife, sure, but you'd need to be more careful and pay more atention to the task. When cutting a single flower stam or a piece of fruit from a tree, the knife blade could more easily damage other parts of the plants. The scissors give you accuracy.

But, hey! It's all good!

Yeah, uh...I suppose.

When snipping a flower for my daughter, I generally don't swing the SAK through the air like a battle axe. I put my thumb on one side of the stem and gently press the blade through it. Seems to work fine. If I'm carrying a SAK with scissors then I use them for convenience.

For the sake of argument, "You could use a knife, sure, but you'd need to be more careful and pay more atention to the task."
Should people not pay attention to the task when using scissors? Either tool can damage the plant, right?

It's funny, at the beginning the Camper was winning by several votes... by the current diehard knights around here it seems... and as votes trickle in the Climber has taken the lead.  :think:
