So the only reason to use 91 mm scissors is because they look sturdier? I don't know if that is reason enough to add that complication to my build.

Total weight is 92g. I reckon you could double it without any issues whatsoever. Electrician for scale.
I just ordered a 4 oz (that's about 114 g in sane unit system ) hammer from UK for 12 GBP.
By punching a little hole in the centre of the rivet to give the drill bit something to bite on. Another option is to drill/sand out the rivets on one side on a few beater SAKs, and saving the brushings on the other side for reuse. That's how syph does it.
