There were three levels of the spam badge, and the requirements were all in the format of "post X posts in 1 hour". I can't remember which level it was, but I went for the one with the requirement "post 50 posts in 1 hour".  :ahhh
I opened up 50 tabs and carefully wrote 50 replies, to all sorts of topics, and clicked post on one after the other.  :D
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I can see why the badge got removed...  :D

Back to topic:

The scissors (if the tracking info is correct they should already be in my country) seem quite scratched in the pictures form Ebay. So I was thinking of polishing them. What do you guys use for that? Progressive grades of sandpaper (800 proceeding to 2000 for nice finish if I remember correctly?) or polishing paste and the felt wheel on dremel?

The scissors seem to be the kind with screw pivot. Are these as good as the new kind? Is the spring different and if so can I still get replacements? Is it a good idea to unscrew the pivot so I can polish and sharpen them more easily? If I loose the screw how screwed am I ( ::))? Should I use loctite / nail polish when reassembling the scissors?  :ahhh

I think that the recommended max grit was 1500, and polishing stuff from then upwards.  I could be wrong, I've never done it.  ::)
Starting grit would depend on the scratches, err on the higher side if you're not sure, so as not to make extra work for yourself.

I'd be more concerned about the scissor edges, they may need sharpening.

Yes, you can take the screw out with the proper screwdriver.  :tu:
I don't know how hard the screw would be to replace, so don't lose it.  ;)
Use a screwdriver that fits well so you don't damage the screw. And when it's properly tightened, the movable part of the scissors that you squeeze with your thumb should be noticeably wobbly when it's fully open, and nice and tight when mostly closed, like in in actual use.

Yes, they are as good as the new kind, possibly better because you can "tune" the tightness to personal preference after sharpening them.

I found on mine that the screw would keep loosening, so I locktite'ed it(actually super glue because I have no locktite.) to keep the screw in place.
So yes, locktite. Make sure it's not the permanent kind.  :P

I think the new standard 91mm spring should work if it's the same shape that those scissors have.
Not sure.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I remember reading something about the older scissors not having the groove in which the slight protrusion of the spring fits, but I am not sure?

True, but that shouldn't be an unsurmountable obstacle.
Maybe sanding? I don't know much about this, only that it can be made to fit.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

Lister - any progress on the project?
Regarding the 84mm plus scales, here is an interesting video on Youtube - this mod shouldn't be to hard for a modder  :)

Well, I've got all the knives. Still don't have the brass rods or a ball-peen hammer ( :twak::D).

I like the looks of 91mm scissors on 84mm frame, makes them visually larger and more robust. Any tutorial pictures of how you did it?

So the only reason to use 91 mm scissors is because they look sturdier? I don't know if that is reason enough to add that complication to my build.

My reason is I don’t have any spare 84mm scissors and backspring lying around apart from what I have in my collection... And I don’t wan’t to ruin those

The status is I am still a lazy smurf that lacks time, energy, a ball penning hammer and brass rods. If all goes well I should be able to disassemble the sacrificial SAK-s this weekend. Also, by then, I should be in possession of a ball penning hammer. That is, if I can find one in our hardware store.  :D

Don't rush it mate. Just don't forget about it either. We are keen for you to succeed

brass rod for 84mm : https://www.conrad.de/de/messing-rund-profil-o-x-l-22-mm-x-500-mm-236163.html
I ended up ordering a cheap, small, modelling hobby ball/pein hammer over ebay.

Total weight is 92g. I reckon you could double it without any issues whatsoever. Electrician for scale.

4 oz will work fine.  I have a 2 and and 8.  The 2 is too small for larger pins, but I use it for 58mm modding and its perfect.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

It seems I missed a rather important detail of sak modding. How the smurf do you drill out the pins without ruining the bushings (is that what they are called?  :D)?!

By punching a little hole in the centre of the rivet to give the drill bit something to bite on.  :D

Another option is to drill/sand out the rivets on one side on a few beater SAKs, and saving the brushings on the other side for reuse. That's how syph does it.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

I didn't want to do that since I wanted to remove the pin, not tighten it even more. I will try that next.  :tu:
