I am heading for a beach vacation next week, too.
For beach activities I am taking a small BO neckknife plus a modified black MP400. Sand should not be an issue since I can take the MP400 apart afterwarts and its plierhead is loose enough to shake out most of the sand. Should cover everything needed.

Awesome! Have a great trip!

Well done!

Did she had it for lunch? It seems big enough for a kid's meal.

Did she try to catch another one or was it more like "Ok, I went fishing, I caught a fish. Done! What's next?"

I know it.  It so much fun doing new things with her.  I kind of get to relive that first time excitement with all the new things she tries.     :ahhh

Well we are back home from a wonderful, albeit too short, vacation at North Carolina's Outer Banks.

Just thought I'd wrap this up by saying of all the tools I brought, only two got used.  The Ultratac K18 did a great job lighting up the beach at night while we looked for crabs running across the sand.  The Cigar 79 did everything else.  It cut cigars, limes, sandwiches, held cigars with the tweezers, opened beers and even helped me disassemble a bed rail for my daughter.  It has earned the honor of being my go to SAK for vacation.
Thanks to everyone for chiming in.  Hopefully some more of you will share your carries if you get to spend some time near the sea/shore or any other vacation spot for that matter.

looks like you had loads of fun!   :tu:
whenever my traveling includes a beach, I always take a Spyderco Salt /DF2 up to Pacific Salt), a small simple SAK (Waiter, Bantam, Classic...) a small multitool like a Micra, Squirt or Dime and a small, compact and hermetic flashlight with common use batteries (like AA or AAA) so they're easy to find.
A solid OPT like a 4-way driver or all metal multi-purpose key is also very useful and impervious to water, sand, etc.
All of the above fit in a small zip-lock bag, a purse or a small personal care and hygiene kit.

a lighter is also very handy to have on trips and holidays even if you don't smoke- Larger SAKs or MTs can be stored in the hotel, car or bag in case a bigger problem or need arises, as non-unfriendly looking knives (Opinel, etc.) for camping, picnic or food preparation
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

Thanks Peacent!  You always seem to be well prepared.  You seem to carry a Salt series knife just about every day.  All your pics helped inspire (enable ) me to get mine.

I hear ya.  I've got 4 or 5 modern folders for specific uses but I agree the prices these days keep me focused on SAKs and MTs.

believe it or not, all but one (BO Pacific Salt) in the pic were bought second hand, for instance,
Pacific Salts cost me $42, $50, $51, $55 and $58
Salt I got it for $38
Tasman Salts, 46 Canadian dollars (Red one) and $48 the black one
Reslienece cost me $30
And I got the Lil' Matriarch on Bladeforums exchange for $70

the Spyderhawks cost me $90 each, and considering they cost $110 or more apiece nowadays that's a good deal in my mind

yeah, nowhere near a SAK price but those are the kings of the value knives in all of the world

Oh wow! I guess those figures are already considered great bargains for modern folders! But looking at all those $$$, all I see are aloxes and Swisstool Spirits, plus a few SIs :P

But seriously, I'll be on the lookout for an excellent bargain on a Salt
