They make a lot of chocolate naively here. As a Brit brought up on Swiss chocolate, the native stuff is universally mediocre. Ditto sausages though that's a whole other discussion. :D

I ate a lot of M&Ms in my youth (I still do), but they came in a big glass vase from my beloved uncle John, who still lives in Culpeper Virginia.
But I wouldn't find it then here. Instead of them, we ate Smarties (still selling) and Lacasitos Tubo, wich come from Spain I think.

My favs are Fry's Turkish delight and the good old Mars bar, anything Lindt is hard to walk past too, one that sticks out in my memory is a truffely raspberry thing i found in Norway called a Troika bar, could quite happily eat a dozen of those right now  :D

We have quite nice chocolate here in Finland, not as nice as the Switzerland or Belgium, but I'd say we have it covered ;)

First up, the quintessential brand of Finnish chocolate, Karl Fazer:

And this is barely a scratch to the surface of their whole lineup

What do we need the pink berry for? Pink and Orange chocolates from Max Perry, a Greek chain of stores.

Leonidas? Wasn't he Greek?

You're completely right!
His head is even the logo of the brand...

Today they brought me some delicious Leonidas pralines. While eating I red Wikipedia. What I didn't know was that not only Leonidas was founded in Belgium by a Greek named Leonidas, but also that the same family still owns the brand. Still, it is considered a Belgian chocolate, although he first made it in New York. Chocolate is a cosmopolitan thing.

I had to look up American Chocolate brands.

Unlike beer, I think I will eat almost literally ANY chocolate.

Hersheys, yep. Reese's peanutbutter cups are amazing. Love Almond Joy, Heath Bar, and a lot of others.
Mars, yep. Snickers, Twix, M&Ms (pretty much all varieties)

Ghirardelli is amazing.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't dislike chocolate from other countries. In fact, I'd bet most of the best chocolate I've had is from outside the U.S, but it's way more expensive. So I get less of it. It's a 'really special occasion' kind of thing. Whereas U.S. chocolate is only reserved for days ending in the word 'day'. :D We get these big bags of little 'funsize' pieces of chocolate from Costco, and I generally have at least one piece every day.

There are also some things that just can't be shipped internationally, really. I don't know what chocolate is generally used, but freshly made chocolate covered strawberries are fantastic. And chocolate covered pretzels. Even the Snyders pretzels covered in Hersheys chocolate are pretty amazing.

Look... what i'm saying is I might have a chocolate problem. :D

My favorite place ever in the US was near the Times Square NY, where you have the MnM store on your left and Hershey's store on your right.
American chocolate is generally less sweet and less bitter but more sour than European. I love Kisses.

Made chocolate mousse for Mrs Nix's birthday dinner:

I'll top each glass with whipped cream before serving. Otherwise it's not all that attractive. I'm no pastry chef.

Used this chocolate, which is excellent and tasty:

Received some chocolate figures and filled eggs from my girlfriend's dad.
He bought them at a local chocolatier.
Handmade top quality! Way too expensive for my budget, but sooooo nice

Haven't had better chocolates ever before.
