The Farmer stayed in the bag...

Saw a cool-looking butterfly

Fail #3  Was enjoying a bottle of wine with lunch....  I did NOT try to open the bottle of wine with my can opener because I'm a quitter and I'll never win.

El Huntsman made quick work of that cork tho....

El Farmer is back today.. bruised ego and awl...

I gotta be honest... I don't think the Farmer is THE choice for me, here's why:

A Pioneer or Cadet is more comfortable in the pocket
I can't remember the last time I needed the wood saw
I have too many other knives that I like more
If I'm going to carry stuff I don't really need, like a wood saw, I might as well get some scale tools and a corkscrew...

I'm sorry if I've offended in diehard Farmer fans.  Just had to get this off my chest.  :D  I do like the Farmer and will always have one but it's super tough for me to settle on it everyday.

Perfectly good decision. The Farmers appeal rests on whether you are a saw fan/user. If you're not then its glamour can't hold you, however shiny it is.

You made a good decision M'Lord, and at least you can say catagorically that you tried.  :salute:

I don't have a Farmer myself :ahhh I do have the Electrician Plus though :D I can definitely see the appeal of the Farmer if you love a saw but otherwise there are plenty of other models that would fit your needs :salute: You tried and it didnt work so now you know :D :like:

The Farmer doesn't appeal to me either. Like you, I am not in frequent need of a wood saw, and I'd rather have scale tools and back tools. I do have a Pioneer Harvester, but that's a donor for parts. At least you gave it a try

As much as I like the 93mm alox models, I think I am in agreement with you here. I have tried to carry Farmer and Farmer variants, Pioneers, and most devotedly the Pioneer X. While the PX mostly suits my daily tool wants/needs, I still missed having scale tools and a small blade, which I have become used to having over the years. I really like the ruggedness, simplicity, and beauty of the 93mm models, they are very appealing for those qualities, but not enough to overcome the versatility and utility of the 91's in my experience. Other alox sizes never appealed to me, and although they are just as beautiful, the smaller cellidor models with the scale tools are just more functional and comfortable to carry, and therefore make more sense to me.

I think it's good to be able to change out and try different models to see what really works for each individual, and for me it's usually the boring old Climber.  :D

Not that I want to bash the Farmer, but why did Victorinox call this model as the Farmer? Lumberjack might be a more apt name

I'm glad you were honest with yourself, El C. You love SAKs too much to just stick to only one  :D

Or call the Camper the Lumberjack and the Huntsman the Camper...

Didn't want to hurt the Farmer's feelings so I brought him along today with some others..   Honestly leaning towards the Golfjack. Mags KILLED it on this mod.  You would not be able to tell it's a mod unless you took the scales off and knew what to look for.  The snap is EXCELLENT.  Way to go Mags!!!!!  :salute: :tu:
