Help identify my SAK
on: July 02, 2021, 01:16:46 AM
Hey folks,

I recently got my SAK from my grandfather. I believe it's from 1973, but I'd like that verified by someone who knows more.

The tang is only stamped on one side. (vssr/-)

Also, should I restore this?

Thanks for any help!

Awesome, thanks for the info!

Do you happen to know if it's common for the inlay to fall out of the scale or are they sometimes made that way?

Not very common - But those scales are very worn - So it can and does happen sometimes
Never made that way - Although there are other versions of the shield (eg printed/stamped)  - but not in your case - it's fallen out.

Definitely worth restoring for sentimental and historical reasons

The one-side blank tang stamp was in the early '70s - So '73 is spot on.

Thanks for the info, definitely going to restore it and see if I can save the original scales.

Does anyone happen to have a vintage aluminum tipped tweezer laying around that they're willing to part with?
