Camillus NY USA BoyScout Knife
on: September 25, 2017, 04:44:23 AM
Normally I don't post much on regular saks and knives, but I purchased this nib knife I am picturing and a nib boyscout huntsman sak today for $20 each. Not really something new, except! This is the first boyscout knife I have ever seen that has a phillips driver and is NOT a SAK. The fit and finish are fantastic, even by SAK standards. I might go as far to say the fit and finish is superior. It is hand crafted in NY, USA. The springs/liners are beautifully ground down and set in for a  USA knife from the 1990s. The box says 1996 and was official boyscout gear. The inlayed emblem is slightly different than my older scout knives. And the #1 phillips driver as a main tool is really neat. Anyone else ever see these around?

Good score on that Camillus!     :like:   The older scout, camping type knives with phillips that are in good shape with good bone coves can bring a tidy sum on the bay at times. Dont know if you've seen this thread but there is cool stuff in it.

I've seen them loose, and usually beat up, but never new in the box. $20 was a great deal with that NIB.

I've been wanting to pick one of the old Camillus or Ulster with Phillips up to try as an EDC item. The Ulsters, however, use a cut down Phillips bit that's peened onto another piece. They're far weaker than what Camillus did.  I have yet to find a reasonably priced SAK or Adler Schrade at a flea market. Yesterday, a guy wanted $15 for a beat up Adler/Schrade Classic-alike at an indoor flea market.  The bright side is the same guy had an NIB Boker Great American Story Moose for $25, less than half what they are on Ebay.
