I will buy 60-75 if price is in $ 2 range.
I'd buy 150 pieces at that price and sell for $30 each

I'm in for 1 regardless.  If possible number them.  Anything with numbers helps justify cost. Doesn't add that much cost to the project, I have gone that route before and it is worth the extra hassle. A unique cross color would also help.  Red on red???  Shipping can't cost $14 though like the Ebayers..

Been a busy day and just now getting a look at ALL THE SUPPORT.   :tu:
Please keep it up.
If any one wants to add a link to here in another thread (Only if fitting to that thread, not an excuse to SPAM) or even start a new thread linking here that might create more interest please do.
The more we can confirm the better the price I'm sure.
Like the Idea of numbering them if possible.
Off to class now, have fun.

I know I said I am in whatever and will stick to my word
However I would hope the cost would be closer to $50 than $60 - And this increases the chance of me buying a couple.

.... If possible number them.  Anything with numbers helps justify cost. Doesn't add that much cost to the project, I have gone that route before and it is worth the extra hassle.  .........

Really Mike ??? - Coz that surely means a (production line) change for every knife - Sounds very expensive to me - Unless Vic are already set up to do that and it's all computer controlled etc etc
Note: I know nothing about production lines/manufacturing   :o  - So happy to stand corrected.

Also for me ... Not that bothered about numbering - Just something like 'MTo - Limited Edition 2016' or such like on the panel will do me

At $50 to $60 I would get one. Much more than that I would rather put the $ towards a plier based MT.
BUCK: X-Tract, 360
GERBER: Clutch, Shortcut, Dime*, DimE*, Octane & Crucial FAST
MP600 NN, CentreDrive, Grappler
Diesel*, Nickle*, Bullrush, MP600 BN, Flik & MP600DET* all in BO
LEATHERMAN: Skeletool, Style PS, CS, ES* & Style*, Juice S2(X2), SC2, C2, Pro, XE6
Crunch, MTO Style CS, Sideclip, BO Kick*
SOG: PowerAccess, Blacktip*, HD PPP
VICTORINOX: SwissTool Std, X(CS), & RS all with red logo, Spirit XBS

In theory, incrementing a serial number while laser etching the scales is trivial and should add little to no cost to the etch itself (there's a small amount of extra programming needed).  What Vic's pricing structure is for this I don't know, or what their minimum order quantity is for that matter.  Has anyone actually been in touch with Victorinox to ask?

Similar knives (special coloured runs of Pioneer X) at other sellers are around $57/55CHF

Grant's shipping costs (to the UK, at least) are indicated on the MTO store as around $10.

I think Zoid is asking to see a sample shot of what you have done.  If possible I think that would be cool too.

And to all Thanks so much for the support and discussion both pro and con...mostly pro

Where are we at? Who can tally the potential orders, is there at least 50? Id get at least 2 if we keep the price under $70.

It seems like a low but reasonable demand. Can we get Victorinox pricing on a special edition run of 50, 75, or 100 units? Any difference?

Main requests seem to want something like "MTO 2017" on back scale, maybe with a logo image?? Or, maybe a small blade etch of something similar. If its cheap to number them, thats fine. Would have to be a laser etch... main blade, or, maybe on one of the openers- Could Vic do that?

Vic doesnt seem to go crazy on embellishments. I know the Danes got red shields on blue, green, and black alox before though. Would victorinox consider any customization like a black shield outline on the red scales? Just checking interest.

Lets try to get this project accelerating. Is Grant ordering?

This projects a no brainer. Very nice knife that will likely hold its value.

Here's some nice examples from someone who I believe is also a member here. Swissknives.info
