Swapping brass pins for SS threaded pivots (alox SAK)

Okay so I have a couple of alox SAK mods I have been tinkering with but I have assembled with brass pins… I don’t feel these are going to last long if I give ‘em any prying action though so would like to replace them with the Stainless threaded pivots I’ve seen.

Question is - how far should the pivots go through? Just as wide as the tools/springs or best to go into the scales a bit too?

hi helvetica bold

I believe, without too much foolishness, that the brass axles from victorinox last more than 50 years on the standard range.
there is no reason why it lasts less on an alox.

but if you are considering a replacement,
normally the axis must enter the scale

They shoud extend into the scales as far as possible.

The pivots only go so far. About 1/6 or less in the scale. The reason for this is you need the screw. If not it will have way to much slop and just kinda fall apart.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
