Imparting Soul To a Soulless Blade.

I stated several years ago,when these new 130's were introduced, that the blades had no soul.They were just blah.They were quite a contrast to the original Wenger 120 series of knives that truly had soulful blades.So I went about changing the profile to give these blades some character or "Soul".

It appears this comparison has been made more difficult because of the difference in the background. A knife collector will be able to easily discern the difference in the profile of the blade.

These pictures may better illustrate the distinct difference in these blades.The top picture shows the blade profile of the  the newer soulless 130 Wenger,which is the same as the current Vic 130, and the old Soulful blade of the Wenger 120.

The second photo shows the new Victorinox 130 with my modification and the blade of the old Wenger 120.

That's a very nice looking modification. Reminds me of the nose of a Concorde.

I'm not entirely sure what you are saying here. Are you saying clip points have more soul than spear points?

Looking at traditional US knife patterns like stockman and trapper I think in the US clip points are far more popular than spear points. Personally, I prefer spear point blades.

Not exactly a clip point and not a spear point.For the sake of discussion,given that only these two blades are included in our discusssion,the answer would be yes.

Unfortunately this Victorinox blade doesn't serve the purpose for which it was designed.

I still don't get it though. Why does shaving off the back of tip of the knife give it more soul?
