Day 3 - Mounted TV on stand using the orange peeler to tighten 4 Philips head screws. In the end I used a screwdriver to tighten them all the way, the peeler was to small to apply enough torque and my wife would not be happy to have the TV fall over.

Oct 03:

I'm loving all the uses and photos so far.

This morning, the trusty Exec was used to lift and pull off the ring tab on the cream for my coffee. They make these little tabs too darn small for my fat fingers, the orange peeler tool worked nicely.

Nice. Great catch to avoid the little aggregations of the day.

Orange Peeler tool is stronger than it looks.  This job would be a good match for the hook on the 91mm SAKs for those with arthritis or with other health issues that struggle opening milk cartons. Very nicely done!

My Ambassador has been gently snoozing in my pocket today as I've been interviewing all day. Not much to photograph there frankly. But some more nail buffing  too.

I liked the pumpkin post, so I'd like to try the same. We don't really celebrate Halloween here in The Netherlands, but some stores carry mini pumpkins.

October 3rd

We're three days in and I'm really liking the Executive. Ever since I got my alox Ambassador I felt like I needed an Exec, and I have no regrets I did.
A MiniChamp sits permanently on my desk and I can see the Executive taking it's place. It's a joy to use.

I won't post any pictures of me cutting my nails, I don't want to gross anyone out. I do want to mention it however. The scissors are on par with what I expect from Victorinox, but the nailfile surprised me! Perhaps I mentioned it before. But it's really aggressive. It leaves my nails super smooth in no time. A very pleasant surprise indeed. The pattern on the file is something I have not seen from Victorinox before. It's either cross hatched (like on my Handyman) or a rough surface (like the MiniChamp). This Executive just has parallel ridges.

Executive nailfile

I used the scissors at work a couple of times, can't really show any photos of that because of patient privacy. I opened a box of fluorescein for example, but can't show a photo because of the brand. So here is a post angiography examination photo. The yellow dye is fluorescein, the green is indocyanine. I'm not going into detail, but what it does is make vessels (and leakage) visible in the eye.

Executive dye marks

The rest of the day was hard work and not very eventfull for the Executive.
Untill the end of the day. I had to wait for my girlfriend again and bought a cocos bar for her and me along with tea. The large blade helped me split the bar. Unfortunately she was late and I ate it all. Sorry about that.

Executive Large Blade and Cocos bar

And that wraps up another day. I'm going to take a bath and head to bed.

I'm giving a buddy a Vic EvoWood 10. I know...I just know...that he would prefer the knife without a key ring attachment. So, I opened the box from the back and took out the knife. I had a little trouble manipulating the split ring to get it off. Then it struck me....

I used the toothpick from the Executive to hold the split ring open while I turned it. Bingo!

Key chain attachment ground off, wood scales sanded and lightly oiled with boiled linseed oil. Back in the box with a drop of glue to seal it up. Thank you for the assist, Executive!

Used the small blade to adjust a stick (originally made with my Outdoorsman, and the stick replaced a bolt), that fits into a hole drilled into the wall in the barn next to the feed box in the barn to keep the lid from unexpectedly closing on me.   The stick was just a slight bit tight in there, so a whittled it down some.

I like my chocolate to be 70% or higher. That 86% looks very nice!

What an excellent use for the toothpick! I can't remember how many times I've mangled my thumbnails on key rings. I recently had the need to thread something on a small key ring and used a small screw driver. It just never occurred to me to try that with the toothpick.

Excellent post!

Jim

We need a toothpick merit badge. It's a fine little tool deserving of some respect.

I used all three cutting tools today. I could have gotten by with just the large blade, but, since I had three, I gave 'em all a bit of use.
Naturally I felt that I should touch up the edges of each tool this evening. I'm always pleased to find that Victorinox steel can take a very keen edge.

Used an extra-fine ceramic stone, an Arkansas stone, and leather strop. Now the two straight blades are shaving sharp. The orange peeler seems sharper, but it is difficult to assess accurately. I sharpened the flat side and stropped both sides. Feels wicked sharp, so I assume it's ready for tomorrow.

To be honest, I haven't tried it yet. I bought some the other day at the store, and never got around to opening the bag. I was making my lunch for work tomorrow, and recalled that I had bought this super dark chocolate. I've never had 86% cacao chocolate before, so we'll see if it's a success.

Great idea for the split ring. Do you have a picture of the finished EvoWood?
