I liked the pumpkin post, so I'd like to try the same. We don't really celebrate Halloween here in The Netherlands, but some stores carry mini pumpkins.

October 3rd

We're three days in and I'm really liking the Executive. Ever since I got my alox Ambassador I felt like I needed an Exec, and I have no regrets I did.
A MiniChamp sits permanently on my desk and I can see the Executive taking it's place. It's a joy to use.

I won't post any pictures of me cutting my nails, I don't want to gross anyone out. I do want to mention it however. The scissors are on par with what I expect from Victorinox, but the nailfile surprised me! Perhaps I mentioned it before. But it's really aggressive. It leaves my nails super smooth in no time. A very pleasant surprise indeed. The pattern on the file is something I have not seen from Victorinox before. It's either cross hatched (like on my Handyman) or a rough surface (like the MiniChamp). This Executive just has parallel ridges.

Executive nailfile

I used the scissors at work a couple of times, can't really show any photos of that because of patient privacy. I opened a box of fluorescein for example, but can't show a photo because of the brand. So here is a post angiography examination photo. The yellow dye is fluorescein, the green is indocyanine. I'm not going into detail, but what it does is make vessels (and leakage) visible in the eye.

Executive dye marks

The rest of the day was hard work and not very eventfull for the Executive.
Untill the end of the day. I had to wait for my girlfriend again and bought a cocos bar for her and me along with tea. The large blade helped me split the bar. Unfortunately she was late and I ate it all. Sorry about that.

Executive Large Blade and Cocos bar

And that wraps up another day. I'm going to take a bath and head to bed.
My knife is pretty old (old enough to have a screw in the scissors, with no alignment groove). The file is actually cut in two directions. It works great on nails, but can really pull on other things like. I prefer the file on the Classic SD. To the Executives credit, though. The point is great for opening split rings, etc.

If you live at sea level, this doesn't look good and warns of yogurt gone bad. But, if you live at 7,000 feet like I do, then you're used to seeing swelled yogurt lids. And, you know not to open it without peircing the lid first to releive pressure. If you don't, you get a yogurt squirt gun. That's not fun.
Executive popped it just fine.

We need a toothpick merit badge. It's a fine little tool deserving of some respect.
I agree. It's more versatile than some might imagine.

Oktober 4th

It's World Animal Day. So here is a obligatory image of the Executive and my dog.

Executive and Casio W-800H

Then lunch. This is what I was most curious about. How well will the Exec prep food? I always have bread for lunch. Most of the time I'll spread jam. The Large Blade is a little small for the job. It get's it done, but just.

Executive, bread and jam lunch

One of my colleagues wanted to throw away a salad. I hate to waste food, so she gave it to me. I used the large blade again, this time I quartered the mini tomatoes. The blade is nice and sharp. It performs really well for this task. The blade is a bit small to toss my salad however.^_~

Executive mozzarella salad

For dinner I decided to test the Executive again for food prep and peeled my potatoes. The large blade is plenty sharp. But 'large' is relative and it's not easy to cut up large potatoes. I switched to my Japanese paring knife for the rest of the batch. The Executive had no problems opening a pack of meat.

Executive and Speedo Goggles

I finished the day with a swim. The Executive stayed in the locker. I did take my new watch for a swim though.

Mine is old enough to have a screw in the scissors as well, and it also has the dual cut file. I wonder if the one on newer knives is as aggressive as the 91mm and above metal file? I know the Executive's file is good on brass and other softer metals (I often use it to straighten out dented brass and aluminum liners on knives).

Day 4, opened up some food wrappers and used the nail file and orange peeler's screwdrivers to remove the electronics from a busted vacuum cleaner.  The only things I didn't do with the Executive were wrench down a screw that was too tight for the Executive, but loose enough to cause the barn door latch some wobble, that was fixed with a PocketWrench II equipped with a Chapman No. 2 Phillips bit.  That combo can take a lot of torque.

Executive and another knife I have relating to the pharmaceutical company, a Schrade Walden from the '50s or '60s based on their Senator pattern for Eli Lilly. It adds a Wharncliffe blade, which Lilly seemed to like to add to their knives. They're the same company responsible for the Vic Emergency Classic.  Reason being is that its for doctors to perform emergency surgery.

Great idea for the split ring. Do you have a picture of the finished EvoWood?

Oh, sorry. I was focused on the Executive!

The Evowood got re-boxed without any glamor shots. Looked pretty good though. I really prefer the Evowood without the key ring attachment. To me, the Evo line is all about the tactile experience, and the key ring deal just interferes with that.

It’s great except it can make holding the Executive a little awkward while using the long blade or peeler. I’ve gotten used to it. :tu:

Hey guys, sorry for the lateness... Won't be able to take part in the challenge, unfortunately. Seems my Exec's scales have broken off once again. Also, lots of more important stuff to be done so...
Hope you don't mind

That's right! It is an orange peeler. I had been so focused on it use as a package opener that I lost sight of its intended function. Great looking scales!

No saying you can't change horses mid-challenge, but I'd wear out Spartan's now, and then get yourself a new one after the challenge.

The small blade came in handy when breaking down boxes at the recycling center this morning.

Oct 05 (still):

Some additional Executive action today; a small sewing project.

The driver on the end of the orange peeler worked well enough to switch needles on the sewing machine, but, in full candor, I prefer using the larger cap lifter at a 90º to do this. Yeah, that would be the cap lifter on the Pioneer X.

The scissors are an excellent size for snipping threads. Victorinox scissors are just excellent, and I never like to be without a pair. This got me thinking about the possibilities of a Cadet X.....

Job completed: an XL bandana (27" handkerchief).
