Need help with an Alox modding jig
on: September 30, 2017, 08:58:42 AM
Hey guys ... got another question for you.

First, I'm using pivots and screws, not brass rods, for my rebuilds.

I've been modding SAKs now for a few months and I'm having a blast.  Mostly I've been using titanium for the scales with a couple Alox thrown in here and there.

The problem with the Alox is that it's hard to get the springs compressed enough to fit the tools on.  I'm doing it all by hand right now and it's almost impossible to squeeze the spring enough to get tools like the scissors on.

Do any of you Alox modders use some type of jig for your builds?  Titanium is easy, I built some aluminum jaws for my bench vice and I just use it to compress my springs.  I can't really do that with Alox scales.m  How do you guys do it?

Here's a photo of a recent build I did where I swapped out a can opener with an Electrician blade on a Pioneer X:
