Leatherman Wave external scissors mod

Hi All,

I am new hear but thought you guys might be interested in a project I am working on.

I always thought the serrated knife on my Leatherman Wave was surplus to requirements but woukd really like some big external scissors like on the Wingman.

At my new job I have access to CNC mills so decided to make my own scissors.

I have started out by making a prototype pair out of aluminium to test the design before cutting them out of steel.

I have attached a photo which will hopefully work. I also have a video but it won't let me attach that..... Sorry

I had a few troubles with penning the rivet but I think I have resolved that problem and have just started maching them out of steel. I used a SAK spring.

I will post an update when I have finished machining them out of stainless!

The cutting edges are currently milled with a ball nose cutter. For the actual steel one I am using N690 Bohler stainless and getting it heat treated. To avoid any distortion I will leave about 0.75mm on the edge and grind them to an edge.

Wish I could upload the video. Is there anyway I can do that here?

Is bohler N690 that good? I didn't think it was as good as the knife steel?
