If the regular Huntsman in ca. 26 euros, they're charging 60 euros for a picture of a dog.
Which is barking!

Actually, you probably pay the most for the packaging and the leaflet. Kinda like with the CyberTool-Bits, the parts not produced by Victorinox drive the price.

Edit: Look at the X-Mas Explorer. It costs 55CHF instead of the 41CHF for a regular Explorer. Not nearly as much difference. Of course it is still a question if you are willing to pay 14CHF for some limited scales and a presentation box.

I believe those are on the back scales, but I could be mistaken.

Lovely SAK though. The dog is very cute indeed. I'm tempted to get it. Though I'm not from a year from the dog. I'm a rat.

Yeah, compared to the doggy, the Wham! Last Xmas special edition Explorer looks like an absolute bargain!
At least on the Christmassy scales they're doing something innovative. The Classics with funky pictures aren't particularly pricy so it looks like a bit greedy of Victorinox to charge so much for a one off print of a puppy dog. (Pretty as it is.)

As I said, the higher price probably comes from the presentation box / leaflet that is produced by another company, driving the price up.

The classics have no special packaging (and they are unlimited)

The packaging on this knives is spectacular and I've got one on the way which will stay in it's box. Until my son is old enough for me to give the collection of them to him (he's half Chinese).

Well... as long as collectors are willing to pay stupid high prices for a regular standard sak model with some different cute scales (scales that cost probably way less than 0.50€ to manufacture) and a very nice cardboard box, Vic will continue to produce them and sell them at those prices... :-\

To each it's own... No criticism to who buys them or collect's them, people can and should spend their money in whatever makes them happy...

To me personally however, the thought of me giving 60€ plus for a 25€ sak for a picture of a dog (or whatever) on the scales and a cool box to lay around on a display shelf is unthinkable...
