Help Harley pick an auto knife
on: October 23, 2017, 01:42:12 AM
Been away for a while but like The Godfater they keep drawing me back in.

Auto knives were just made legal here in Michigan this month and I petition the fine folks here at MTO to help me pick something nice.

Any ideas?

I couldn't, in all clear conscience, advise you on an auto knife Harley. You will definitely end up stabbing yourself with it.

Also you are way behind on Monrogues alimony payments. Mo needs his beer money. Step up dude!

On a budget it would have to be Boker or Kershaw, if not Microtech all day and all night and in several positions  >:D

wow! Envious of you, as autos are still illegal here... :pok:

I've long learned, looked at and drooled over automatic knives. Nowadays, you have lots of options... :tu:

- Ultra low price: Ganzo Autos, Lighting OTF, Schrade Autos
- Budget but good stuff: Boker Autos, Kershaw Launch series and Galylean model, SOG Spec Elite
- Serious money but high quality: Gerber 06 Fast and Covert-Auto, Paragon Warlock, Phoenix and others, Piranha Autos, Spyderco Autonomy
- High end and top class_ Benchmade Stryker Auto, Benchmade Infidel, Microtech Halo, Ultratech, Cypher, LUDT and others, all of Protech Autos, Rat Worx Autos

I love automatics, looking at them, learning and reading about them, even though I can't own them     :salute:

It all depends on the kind of money you´re willing to spend. But you´ll not go wrong with a Protech.

Be aware though that any automatic knife may fail to open every once in a while, for no apparent reason. For mission critical applications, a standard OHO knife will be more reliable.

I´ve also had the uncomfortable experience (once) of my knife opening while it was clipped to the inside of my waistband. That´s why I switched to sheath carry.

Benchmade mini coalition is a new one. My buddy just picked one up and it's quite nice size for edc. About the size of a mini griptilian. If I was in the market for a new auto folder that's what I'd look hard at.

Thanks everyone, glad to be back.

Nothing mission critical anymore, I drive a truck now and carry something that gets loud for self defense. Just getting an auto because,

1. I can

2. They are neat.

So you carry a whistle for self-dense :D

Hard to argue with your reasoning :tu:

I don't own any autos but would like to have a quality OTF like a Microtech basically because they are neat 8)

I interpreted "getting loud" as the "BANG BANG" from a gun... :ahhh

Something totally different for your consideration:

Mikov makes multi-blade knives with an auto main blade.
