 Thanks Poncho and Nix!  This tool really is a very handy sidekick to have.  At first it seemed big to pack daily, but it really grew in favor with me.  It's actually very handy to have along!  I sure wish it had a saw though  but even that's no big deal.

I'm curious to know....maybe after the challenge...how you guys feel the Gerber compares to other Multitools.

Keep up the fine work!  :salute:

Day 30

Here we are at the end of the challenge, and I have to say the center drive was much better than I thought it would be. The only tool not used over the month was the serrated blade. It's useless to me and is getting replaced with a U shank saw holder as soon as I get hold of a set of the gerber tool off Loki.

The pliers are pretty good, though when trying to twist off old tie wraps they struggled for some reason. They got there in the end but seemed to slip off way to easily. I wonder if that was the BO coating at first as they got better over time as the coating wore off the jaws a bit. The cutters in the pliers are the usual gerber ones and I chipped them before the challenge and had to turn to the next good face. I wish I knew how to machine these kind of things as they are crying out for some in 420HC like the leatherman ones (I think they are 420HC anyway). Someone could make a killing making and selling those  :pok:. After a month of daily use mine have freed up and the pliers are now flicky and can be deployed one handed as they should be.

The awl is ok for making an X mark and shallow starter hole for screws, but it is way to wide for anything deeper. It needs profiling to make it thinner, but then I worry it will be weak and twist.  It's great as a scraper though and parcel opener, though it's a pain to deploy when the blade is so easily accessible on the outside for parcel opening duties. They definitely need to rethink the awl.

The prybar is good, I have used mine to pry stuff I had no right to do as it was probably borderline too much for it, but it did it ok. I was pushing it as I know others have chipped an edge off theirs prying nails, so I tried to give it a good workout, and it hasn't chipped or broken yet.

The file is good, a bit coarse but does the job quite admirably. It's no better or worse than the type on a LM rebar, ST, etc.

The screwdriver, this is the main selling point of the CD and it's a great tool. The magnet has great retention and it's a strong driver. I've used it on some really right screws and it handled it without a problem. Not a lot more to say about it really, it does exactly what it was designed to do.

The main blade out of the box felt sharp, but the edge retention was crappy. It went blunt so fast when using it to cut bags of top soil open, but once it had a proper sharpen on my edge pro it held up great. I sharpened it at the beginning of the challenge and only had to touch up the edge once through the 30 day challenge, though it's about ready for a good sharpen again now.

Overall I was far more impressed with it than I thought I would be and will now be added to my EDC rotation rather than being just used and abused as a gardening tool.

Great write-up!

Congratulations on the challenge!  :salute:

Thank you

it was indeed very interesting to read your thoughts on one of the most innovative and promising tools of these years.
If I had it, I think I'd share most of your critics over the tool as well as my impressions on it, given the use you've put it through and the challenges you've encountered.

Thanks for the good follow-up and conclusion to the 30 days Challenge!

There's nothing I could add to what's been written already about this awesome tool.  This is my first Gerber multitask and I've been really impressed with it!  It wears well on my belt, and covers 95% of what I need extremely well.  It's been fun!!
