Can key end date?

My late 80's Super Tinker has the old can key cut into the backspring Phillips head. My 2012 Deluxe Tinker does not.

Recently I purchased a black- scaled, Boy Scouts of America edition Tinker. Because of large screwdriver half stop, the key ring being affixed to a shim, the lack of a ® next to the Boy Scouts Fleur de Lis, the crossbow and Rostfrei on the main blade tang, I date it as very close in time to my late 80's Super Tinker.

Yet, it does not have the can key cut into the Phillips screw driver.

I have researched is site and another, but have not seen a determination as to when the can key was discontinued. Does anyone know more?

a version of that tang stamp was in use until 2004.  the can key ended by 92

pre 86. The V was the same size as the other letters in Victorinox.  86 to 2004. The V is larger.

All the more reason to love those pre-91 Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. Better Cellidor, inclusion of the can key, tang stamps and no Hook tool.

I think I will just continue to try to buy NOS and otherwise vintage stuff whenever possible.
