So I bought 3 magnetic knife holders. They're meant for kitchen use and are therefore covered by a silicone cover to prevent the knife from scratching up.I tested it with a Victorinox Waiter and it works perfectly. The knife itself, however, becomes magnetised.Anyone got an idea how to remove this magnetism? I know both Vic and Leatherman have display cases with magnets inside, so what's the deal with those? Do they just remain magnetised forever?

I should state though - i've never actually used one, just seen them about... so if it ends up melting you're knives or if you turn green and become very very angry, it's no my fault!
You could buy a De Gausser or even make one from an old transformer

I actually wondered about this when I was asking about knife displays, I'm probably still going to make a small display using magnetic strips.....not that it worries me.I'm my earlier days we had more trouble keeping screwdrivers magnetized than not.....
