Nice knife  :salute:, I actually like the coating on the blade, as far as I know it's the same as on my Ontario RTAK, it's tougher than old boots!

Sweet, feel free to post pics of the rtak in here.   :tu:   :like:

congrats. i don't recall seeing a sharpening notch on their knives before, is that a new thing?

I think they have always had them.
my Candiru has one, and I've had it for several years. :tu:

you have excellent taste, Dr. Z

looking forward to watching you put this one through the ringer :D

could be my mistake as the larger knives don't have one
good point. :salute:

I can confirm that my ESEE 5 definitely does not have a sharpening notch. My 4 has a finger choil that doubles as a sharpening notch.

I can try to get some pics later if anyone is interested.

Yeah lots of pics please.   :tu:   :like:

On the izula it's a powder coat. Not sure about the rtak without looking it up.

Congrats Zoid!  I love my Izula II.  It's such a great size for EDC and not too fancy to beat up on.  Hope you share your thoughts as you get to know it.

Old pic...

Thank you.      The plan is to share my findings.

I was going to get pics cutting up my arvo apple.
But after losing 3/4 of my apple, my hat, sun glasses and camera case I gave up wrestling the heavies and went to the shed.

Ok, last time I’ll post anything non ESEE

Top, Condor Village Parang
Bottom, the sexy but eye wateringly expensive Ben & Lois Orford Pocket Parang

A couple classic lines from the video.

Quote
That gives you extra security, but it means that if you do let go of the tool it can just fly out safely behind you, okay.

Quote
So notice how I'm always working either in front or behind my body so the blade is always going into a safe zone.

Looks like a nice blade for sure. Unfortunately way out of my reach though. You will have to enjoy it for the both of us.

Blade and edge grind is a little thick for slicing kumara. The softer potato cut okay.
