Myself, I´m a backlock man. Probably because the Buck 110 was the knife to have in my younger years. Also I do not particularly like the asymmetrical construction of liner locks and frame locks. What´s your preference?

I pretty much like 'em all. Lockbacks, midlocks, liner locks, Axis locks, plunger locks (like the Cold Steel Ram Lock), ring locks, no locks, framelocks, NakLoks, Lake Tab Locks, Dozier Tab Locks, compression locks... I'm an equal opportunity lock lover.

Now, there are some of those I haven't tried, but I have zero reason to believe we won't get along just fine.

I like both back locks and liner looks equally. I do, however, get a real buzz from a really well made slipjoint.

Considering that the Soldier '08 is getting a lot of carry time recently and Tenacious has been my bumming around knife for years one would think I'm partial to liner locks. But also the only locks that failed on me were a liner lock and a frame lock so I'm not putting my vote anywhere just yet. To be fair the liner fail was most likely 100% my fault (I say most likely as I have no way to test if the lock would have failed regardless of the user) and cutting with my rather large hands in an odd position

I prefer liner lock simply for easier one handed use.

I’m don’t know if the science backs it up. Purely subjective but the backlocks gives me more security of mind than the liner or framelocks. Fast deployment is not a big thing for me.
I really liked the axis lock, but when I disassembled my minigrip I didn’t like the looks of that Omega spring

This is just my opinion, I’m sure all locks work fine.

I've been using liner and frame locks so long now I don't know if I would want to switch back to anything else. I prefer a strong liner lock, because frame lock seems to weaken one side of the knife frame. I don't know if that is really an issue, but I just can't stop thinking about a substantial part of one frame half being structurally compromised.

I prefer a back lock, AXIS or the ball bearing lock on my Manix 2. The compression lock on my PM2 is awesome as well. These locks dont have any real chance of your hand gripping in a way to pull the lock out. My ZT 0350 will pop out of being locked if the tip is hit with force so after that happened to me I have gotten a little away from liner locks.

Axis lock is fine, but I found that the shock and vibration generated by rapid opening closing of blade cause the pivot become lose over time...  At least from my experience.

Not a fan of frame lock at all, mostly I dislike how it looks.

I am a big fan of the TriAD (backlock), I enjoy its solid and firm action.

I've never found that I needed a lock, so I really don't care about lock strength. Mostly carry a slip joint.
Never took a liking to lock backs, they're not as convenient to close.
Liner locks are easy to close one handed, I enjoy those.
Axis locks are easy to close, so I like those as well.
Nak locks didn't seem to catch on but the one I have is easy to use.
Frame locks are just heavy liner locks but it's like half the handle is missing. Don't like the way most of them look.

I have had some bad cuts that could have been prevented with better locks.

I love to carry knives that can open and close easily with one hand, so Liner locks and frame locks are cool.
But ever since I bought my 940 I have been head-over-heels in LOVE with AXIS locks!!!    :like:

Not sure if I'll ever go back!  :D

Back locks and axis/ball bearing locks would be my other vote.

Liner locks I dislike.....or distrust, I admit for no reason.

Frame locks are acceptable as toys.

I know I'm "wrong" to distrust liner and frame locks, and to be honest my only bad experience so far was lock stick on an Enlan, but that's just how  I roll

No lock, it's safer.  :D
Makes you respectful of the blade and the correct way to use it.

Half Stop, as it does the same thing as a lock, without having to unlock it.  Since I am left handed, the majority of locks are difficult to close one handed without having to brace it against my leg. I do like Wenger's Pack Lock (has the drawback of making the knife uncomfortable to use), and Vic's left handed linerlock.
