Zip tie badge request with a story
on: November 23, 2017, 10:05:51 AM
Okay... You probably know the feeling. You may have earned some badges throughout your journey on  :MTO: and reached a certain niveau of satisfaction.

But then, that itch appears... At first you barely notice it, then it makes itself louder as it wants to be noticed, even recognized by you. That, that itch slowly and steadily grows and grows and sometime -without you realizing when- it becomes a need. A need that bothers and disturbs you and whispers and tells you "You want one more badge, another one... One more. You need it. You must have one more!"

And then it becomes a scream and it starts controlling you! So there is my attempt for a zip tie badge which I did not know existed.

For those who might be interested here's my (longish) story:

The thing you see in the photos is a microphone ripped from a broken pair of those big headphones. The mic was working properly, so I thought it would be a good idea to rip it off and keep it as an external microphone when the headphones broke. It had been sitting in one of my boxes for years, until last week... Last week I had a job interview which was going to be conducted as a video conference but during the tests I have been told that the microphone on my computer was too weak. So, I tried this external one and it worked great! There was a problem though: The interview would take more than 4 hours and if I held the mic to my mouth for four hours, I would need a new arm at the end of the interview...  Not being related to a Tony Stark who could make a cool new robotic arm for me, I ran the MacGuyver-lobe of my brain (NOT the new, crappy one, but the original one!) and he came up with this idea: I had some clamps from old cell phone earphones. Though, there was no way they would connect to the mic. This is where the zip tie came to rescue. It held the clamp firmly enough without letting it slide down and I finished the interview without any technical difficulties :)

It is black on the photo but actually I paited it black, because I did not want my interviewers to see a zip tie there on the collar of my shirt.

Oh BTW, FYI I have not been accepted for that job lol but I'm happy with my current job anyway, so I'm okay with that.

The humble zip tie.  I don't know how we got along without them?  Nice job.   :like:
