I love the Spirit, but if I had to have just one pliers-based multitool....I'd go with the Rebar right now. It just has a "bullet proof" feel, it's simple and easy to access the tools, and I love the idea that I can change out the wire cutter blades if needed.

One could argue that the ST300 (Or Surge, I suppose) is bigger and more robust, but I love, love, love the convenient size of the Rebar.  (Image removed from quote.)
Ice thought about it more and realized that since it's the pliers that I'm primarily interested in, the Rebar's replaceable heads are way better than the others, including even Wave's and Charge's. So I'm sticking with the Rebar

Looks yummy!  :like:

What are your pros and cons about putting a lanyard on your Rebar, Nix?

I'm currently tempted at buying a SwissTool Spirit XC being sold for a steal right now...but since I have a Rebar on the way, everytime I see your Challenge, I ward off the urge to get the Spirit  :D
Don't get a Spirit! It'll make you leave your Rebar at home every day
Unfortunately at this time I can afford to keep one so I'm leaning towards the Rebar
Because you haven't touched a Spirit yet :pok:
I have handled almost all the SwissTool variants already

There is a lot to be said for the Spirit.

(Image removed from quote.)

Great design...and, it has scissors. But it feels a bit more 'delicate', doesn't have replaceable cutters, and no real lanyard attachment point. The Spirit is like a fine M-16 carbine, the Rebar more of an AK-47? I don't know. It's darn hard to argue against the Spirit, but for the money, the Rebar is one heck of a nice tool. I probably don't have enough experience with either tool to offer an 'expert' opinion.
Or, Rebar is Land Cruiser Prado while Spirit is Range Rover?

That's kinda my thinking as well. I love the Charge and the Wave, but the Rebar is easier to carry and has better pliers. If I want pliers, I want a Rebar (or ST300). If I don't want pliers, I've got a SAK.

I think there might be a good argument that the Spirit is the better choice if you want to carry just one tool to do everything. (Everything fairly well.) However, if you are open to carrying a couple of tools--or three or four tools, like normal people--the Rebar might make more sense.

Day 26:

This feels like a repeat post......

We got another 12cm of snow yesterday and last night, and it's still coming down. At this rate, might get a chance to do a little cross-country skiing tomorrow.

Day 26 (continued):

Looks like it won't get above freezing for a while....maybe June? So we'll definitely be having a White Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, Santa just dropped off a pair of wrenches......

I'm going to think on this subject for a while. Scissors are a strong possibility. Although it looks like a bit of a puzzle with regard to how to fit them in neatly.

Day 27:

Wow. The challenge is slipping by quickly now. So far the Rebar has been pretty much perfect, although I feel I haven't been using it quite as much recently. As a solo tool, it could benefit from some scissors. And maybe a nail file. Nevertheless, I haven't found myself wishing for something else during this challenge.

After shoveling a lot of snow and then going skiing, I'm pretty wiped out today. Time to put the feet up and watch a Christmas movie...or take a nap.

 Hang in there! ;)
Pairing the Rebar with a SAK that has scissors fills the void.  Also, a nail file, etc.  the combos are endless, depending on your choice.

Mine is paired with a Vagabond

Also, a Classic would fit the bill or even a Cadet if Alox is desired.

I also have been known to add a Climber to my EDC.

Your Challenge was tough working with only the Rebar, now moving forward as a duo will even make you better.

Just as I suppose you Mrs Nix are as a pair.  (That’s what use to explain multiple tools, to my dear wife, she still rolls her eyes quietly!)

The Rebar + Executive combination makes a huge amount of practical sense.  :tu:

(Even though the Executive is a weird little knife. A Rebar + Ambassador would be even more practical.  >:D :pok:)

((A Rebar + a Compact would make an outstanding combination.))

To nice images, one at work, one resting while master awaits his coffee brewer.

Was the snow measure all fresh fall over night?

If it continues you will need the ST to measure!

Pizza night here at the Nix Homestead.

Rebar got pressed into service to help make the pizza sauce.....

I try to make the sauce well in advance so that the flavors can all meld and come together: tomato, garlic, salt, pepper, chile, thyme, and oregano. I'm drooling already...

It would seem that during this challenge, the can opener has been the most used tool.
