Now I'm trying to picture how bad the arguments could be on a bonsai forum .

I was wondering that myself....

I suppose it makes sense to not argue with people whose hobby is to mutilate baby trees with assorted cutters.

I would think that if some silly argument got started on a Bonsai forum, the moderator would just...

Nip it...in the bud...baby...

Sorry. Nobody did that one yet, and I just had to.

3-  That is a gorgeous truck Thundah!  If $$ were no object and I could have an old truck on the road I'd probably opt for a '73 or '74 K5 Jimmy with the full removable top, just like the one I grew up with.  My parents bought it shortly after I was born and finally sold it (almost dead, damned East Coast rust!) when I was 15.  In Yuba Gold with a white top, 350 auto, even though the one I grew up with only had a 305.

(Image removed from quote.)

That is the standard in my mind for all other trucks to live up to.

Jesus H. Smurf, Grant!

When I was a boy, about the time I got to kindergarten, I saw a big powder blue blazer with a white top, just like yours in that picture but powder blue. Somehow, my parents got me a Tonka truck- like toy of one the exact same colors.

Like I said, if I could find the right older one under the right conditions, I would snatch it up, and the one you show here is exactly what I mean! Very nice!

As you've said, I feel the same way...they are the standard to which all trucks are ever compared, in my mind as well.

I can imagine it. You spend hours, days, weeks even planning each cutting remark so it is just right. Waiting, then striking without warning, taking off a whole limb before anyone even sees it happening!

Bonsai- it's for the patient samurai.

I have debated this over and over a thousand times in my head.  On the one hand, I will always love the Jimmy, and the convertible nature of it really appeals to me, but on the other, well, I have always thought 4 doors beat two, and I love the extra size of the old Suburbans.

There's just something about the K5's in my mind.  It's what a truck should be.

That having been said, I would also be all over an old International Scout too!

Well, I was quite delighted with it. They just come to me extemporaneously. Those kind of jokes don't grow on trees y'know.

this is the best forum in the net regarding respect, mate-erism and good, eductaed discussions.
No other forum has come close to that, especially American forums (IMO).

After 4 years of contributing, being an active and helpful (to newbies and others) member and loyal, every-day logging and posting, this month I was banned from BladeForums. The first time in my life that I am banned from any forum, and I've been in at least a dozen of them for very long.

Not going back there, even if I could.  :ahhh
And I didn't even have my pride hurt, nor did I attack anybody else. It was just a difference in opinion and line of thinking with the (95% American) mods, better known members and classic "I'm gonna make a world out of this comment" kind of people there,.

not a criticism to any American member at all, just a common thing I've found in my experience on the net

 :MTO: ...
  It just rocks!!!

Yikes, all you used to do there was post pics of sak's! That place is crazy though. This really is the least BS edc style forum on the web.

I think they try to carefully moderate the bush by removing wild growth in unwanted directions? (That sounds scarily factual).

Hm. Wonder if there is a waxing version of this bush trimming thing. Maybe I should ask in the bonsai forum? Or anyone sitting on the the naughty step?

That movie probably did more for worldwide bonsai awareness (?!) than any other cultural happening. And karate recruiting I assume. Not sure it did much good for the joy of car waxing. (Is there any?)
