I love camping, and have had many memorable camping trips. Some with family, some with friends, some with friends who are no longer with us. This one was a trip that I took alone about a dozen years ago. I had read a lot of stuff and looked at a lot of pictures about Terlingua, Texas. So I decided I had to go camping there. I took lots of pics, but here are just a couple that I happen to have on this computer. The first is of the new canvas tent I bought in October just for the trip. I waited until just after Christmas, then headed out in my Jeep with my camping gear. The second photo was probably New Year's Day, or maybe the day after, in the Chihuahua Desert in southwestern Texas. Anyway it had rained quite a bit (much more than most people would expect in the desert), then got cold. So I was hanging out in the tent, enjoying a warm fire in my homebuilt tent stove. A can of hot soup hit the spot. Also check out the well-blackened by many campfires Corning coffee pot. That was the pot my parents used when I was a kid in the '60s. I grabbed it sometime in the '80s when my Dad was gonna throw it away.
