Corkscrew - Marks on the liner / Scale?

Corkscrew - Marks on the liner / Scale?

Hi all,

are marks on the liner and the scale in the place of the corkscrew typical? Even on a sparse used SAK.

I've three marks there. All are in the place where the corkscrew rests on the liner. The most pronounced is on the end of it.

Very common symptom.  It's just the impact point of where the corkscrew closes.

I apply rubber bumpers on my SAKs to counter that...

Very normal. I wouldn't worry about it- it's like having a spot where the finish on the stairs is worn. Just means there are people around.

It happens, but I have noticed an odd lack of it on my old late '50s Ranger and the 108mm German Army Knife.  I'm guessing the older scale material and the nylon scales on the GAK are tougher.

The vintage cellidor is definitely harder... one thing I have notice about the older, solid cellidor scales is they tend to separate at the ends as the plastic ages.    The 108mm nylons are super durable and practical for a soldier.   :tu: :cheers:
