Blue Collar Charge
on: December 06, 2017, 04:12:18 AM
Hey Y'all!

I've been in and out over the last year or so now, life gets crazy and my forums get a break.

My "Blue Collar Wave" finally wouldn't open one day, I took it apart and it was worn beyond just a cleanup.

To those who don't know I live on a Salsmurfer coast, and my tools recieve full doses of salsmurfer and fish slime weekly sometimes daily.

Blue Collar Wave; https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,68782.msg1424138.html#msg1424138

After fiddling around for 3 months or so with a Switchplier2, PST, or nothing at all, I was finally fed up.

Sourced a good price on a new condition Charge TI. Only missing the large bit!

Stole the VIC scissors, rebar head and a large bit driver from my old wave.

Only issue I've had so far, the charge scale has a "proud" spot to take up the thickness that the wood saw (and the file) lack. (Compared to the blades) not sure if it'll effect pocket-ability but we will find out.

I sure hope so! Just feels good to have something in my pocket again. Can't tell you how many times I went to reach for a tool that wasn't there

Still my faithful tool! Almost lost it at least 3 times now but it always comes back. Relocation from Florida to Oregon was much easier.

Don't have any photos without my Gulf master!

Now that I live in Oregon I guess I'll have to start wearing pants instead of shorts................

May switch to full sheath carry! Or try the Blue Collar Surge out for awhile again.

Do I regret spending so much money? Yes.

Do I absolutely love this watch? Yes.

Really need to sit down and re-adjust all the settings for the West coast! I do get a much much better signal from the atomic setting that comes out of Fort Collins Colorado.

So when switching over to Vic scissors, you could add a Rebar plier head without grinding stuff off?
In exchange for the saw.

saw & scissors are pretty much a direct swap; adding the Rebar pliers requires taking out the plier stop/blade safety thing from the body.

Unless you keep the regular scissors in, right?

R.I.P. Wave

Cool mod though! :tu:

And I’m pretty sure you can get around salsmurfer.

Saltwater

Getting on with it! Here's my tool station. O forgot that at some point in time I ordered another rebar head and another pair of Vic scissors, so I should have enough tools lines up to redo my charge AND ressurect the blue collar wave!

Might do black handles on the charge? Any thoughts?

The Wave parts are just about all there, just need 2 large bit drivers and some serious rust TLC.

Don't know if y'all can see the dirt in the photos.... But you could definitely say it was time for a cleaning.

So I expected some of the factory B.O coating to come off in Evaporust, and it did perfectly! Almost came out as the same texture as my Blue Collar Wave handles.

Darker colors are wet spots.

Rough assembly done!

Still need to clean off the knife blades, oil, adjust screws with loctite, and whip up a new lanyard!

I remember now why I waited so long, I HATE Installing the washers around the pivots....

Silver now! Used some gun oil to clean up the pivots. Still need to loctite them but I usually wait a month or so.

Really bothers me how crooked the clip gets, it wears away the handle too.
