This was in a big bag of junk I purchased at an estate sale.  Imperial Barlow.  USA made in Providence R.I. According to the blade tang.   The plastic handle is imprinted with Sperry New Holland. It needs a good cleaning and sharpening.

Camco and Lionsteel
'
Dean, I have one of these Camcos.  Is yours unfinished on the bottom like mine?  What I mean is, mine is ground/sanded down on the top (blade) side, but was not sanded down on the backspring side so that the scales and liners are flush.

I've heard rumors that Camillus produced the Case barlows at one time, and I can certainly say that these Camco frames are spitting images of the Case barlows from the 70's, but the blade stock is a bit different.

Ulster Barlow. Got this yesterday. Won it cheap. It was very dirty and needed some serious tlc. It still needs some attention but is much better and quite usable now.

Both of mine are the same as yours, not finish ground on the back at all. It left the handles raised over the springs and sharp.
I touched it very quickly with a belt sander just enough to lower the handles the second I hit spring I stopped. It's a comfortable user now.

I had a Camillus Rough Cut Stockman like this one that had proud liners and unfinished backsprings. I used my bench grinder which has a fine stone on it to smooth it out. I came out looking and feeling pretty good so I gave it to a buddy.

Steve tell me that's not a 3 blade barlow.  :o

CAMCO was the Camillus budget line. You would think they would have at least evened the liners a bit, even if they didn't polish it.

I think these come from near the end of production at Camillus

I think you might be right there.
I thought that but wasn't sure, I didn't remember them always being that way.

I would suspect so, especially considering you can still buy the Camco Barlow new in the bag on Ebay.
