No knife policy
on: December 11, 2017, 08:06:43 AM
Sucks.. I am also falling victim to a no knife policy in the company.. Just heard this from a supervisor.. They are going to introduce a kind of T shaped safety cutter.. But I am going to take it with stride and its time for further mod ideas. Think gerber is the way to go. Since I have no need for one hand opening tools anymore..

Sucks, but adapt and overcome, eh?

I have customized the loadout of my SOG switchplier to be bladeless, and as tool access is a wee bit clunky anyway, the switchplier works great as a set of 1H pliers with an array of rarely used, but perfectly adequate secondary tools.  :)

Switchplier was my very first MT. Which I quick grown to dislike.. No offense. But I found the pliers very lacking. It can grip OK,  but can't cut anything. Soon after I got the powerassist which I absolutely love. But yeah sog is one of the brand I like alot for the pliers.

LM Rebar or ST300 are not OHO and also very good to mod (I have some experience, you too it seems)... just sayin', as you seem to dislike switchplier pliers.

Yeah. Those are good carries and great to mod. I would like to do a few different models for the kicks and for the mood of that day. 😁

Would a multitool with a knife blade that has a rounded blunt tip fall under this policy?

I'd take it as a sign that it was time to start looking for a new job.

I have a No Knife policy at work as well. However, it is to avoid us hurting ourselves rather than hurting others. A No Knife policy isn't necessarily about trusting you, but may be about insurance and lawsuits.

In my case, I checked with the Safety department and they are fine with me carrying a knife at work as long as I don't use it at work. Insurance reasons.

Think it's kind of extreme to change job just for this.. Yeah. If I heard them correctly, they said we are not allowed to use knife.. Didn't mention carrying...

So how are you supposed to walk up and down the stairs, according to your employer?

Dunno.  I read the advice ages ago and promptly decided to ignore it.  If I can't manage to get up the stairs without falling over I'm not going to hold the company responsible.

It would be fun trying to find something the health and safety lawyers haven't thought of, screw it up then sue. Like using the bathroom. If only to see companies having to give official company sponsored toilet use lessons.  :D
