Moras are just really great knives all the way around and most (probably all) of the reasons I like them are already mentioned :tu: :like:

I have the Mora Companion HD (heavy duty) and I really like it :tu: The Companion would be as good and only difference between it and the HD is the thickness of the blade :tu: The Classic line is also some good ones and so have either a No. 1 or 2

Maybe an Eldris. You get to pick your favorite color and they´re not really expensive (around E 30).

Looking at a Carbon Companion....
I have one. Great knife.

It is just so much fun being on the same forum with my son,Douglas, just in case you did not know. It provides all sorts of new ways for me to embarrass him.....................but that is only part of the reason for this question.
What is so great about a Mora knife? I mean we even have a badge for it, why not for Buck, or Case, or Puma, or even Openil? Somebody please enlighten an old man who is lost & befuddeled.

Hope that gives the proper amount of, Oh no he did it again. Hey, Doug, at least I didn't ask for a Chinese SAK, or is it,CAK, merit badge.

  :climber:

My grandfather still owns his grandfather's mora from the 1880s. This man worked as a farmer his entire life and did everything by hand, he used this knife everyday for almost eighty years he used it as to cut foot, whittle wood, cut his nails, clean his pipe, remove splinters, start fires, build houses and barns, collect firewood, kill and skin reindeer, rabbits, mink and bear, clean his gun, and anything else you could possibly imagine. The knife is still shaving sharp, the handle (made from untreated birch) is completely intact, there is almost no rust and the bevel (although having taken a Kukri-esque shape from years of sharpening) is still intact.

I may preach a bit too much about Moras but I know I can trust them.

yes: The blue one with the guard on the bottom, craftline pro, probably your best bet about $11, the black and light blue are compaions, waiting for another sale on amazon, but nothing has come up in a long time, if you need fire kit, the fireknife has built in striker. These are my favorite fixed blade knifes, and you wont find a better bang for your buck anywhere, ditto to all the kudos mentioned, once you get one you will see why we have a badge.

I wonder if it was a typo. Maybe the badge originally meant "More Knives". Meaning a badge for anyone having more knives than they'll ever use. :D
Though, in that case, we'd all likely have the More Knives badge. ;)

Hint hint...nudge nudge...admin team.... :pok: :D

Has admin changed the mora badge to more knives badge yet.  :D

Mora are my favorite knives. I recommend them to everybody who needs a good workhorse knife.

I have an Opinel and it sits in a drawer and occasionally opens letters or does some other menial task. But you can do some pretty cool things with those knives too.

Mora Bushcraft, no matter the flavour  :salute:

In my case I bought my first Companion due to the hype, I don't trust plastic and I waited for the handle to start perishing, and that just never happened.

Got the Bushcraft Black Survival edition  :ahhh on sale, ended up with the one knife I would grab if I had to run.....

I have many knives, I make knives, and that would still be my choice.  :salute:

Around here the Moras are the default utilitarian knives. Some years ago if you went into a shop for a knife typically the choice would be Mora or Mora. These days it is Mora, Mora or some copy of Mora it seems.

Mora just work until they get lost somewhere. And lost they get so I've tried quite a few over the years. My personal experience is that the carbon blades seems sharper than the stainless ones (but rusts easily).

I try having three models around; a carbon steel one for general abuse, a Bushcraft model for normal use, and a Rescue model for rope work. (No idea how it works for rescue, but it is sure great for ropes :) ).

I got a Sog seal pup and Gerber Prodigy about 8-9 years ago, they cost 4-5 times more, but I never use them, I only grab my Moras when I'm in need of a fixed blade, and if they would just put them on sale again, I will pick up a green companion for sure, and want that bushcraft, Kansbol and a few others, they are pretty sweet...awaitng Butch's apology post

This is the classic Mora version for cooperative work - very safe to receive and hand over others.

I was given a Mora by a wonderful member.  I used it for a while and passed it on to my daughter.  Its a companion and while she did manage to snap the tip it was easily fixed and good as new.  I wan't a fan of the sheath however it works really well.  I made a few mods to it to include a dangler and fire steel ( for camp fun ).  I liked it so much I got one for my roommate.  I got her a heavy duty and also modded the sheath for her.  What I can say is the Mora has earned the reputation it has.  Seems everything said about the Mora is true for their owners.

I ended up getting a Mora #2 that looked like it was severely beaten and neglected.  I cleaned it up and sharpened the blade ( carbon ) to become one of my sharpest fixed blades.  My daughter and roommate both have SS blade while I love my carbon.  I cannot say whose knife is sharper as they all are really wicked.  If anyone is looking to get a good go to fixed blade I strongly suggest a Mora or 3.
